Default Servo killer

So have killed many servos in my Yeti XL and I do no even think I drive crazy.

Here is my list:
Older MKS brushless servo out of a 450 CP heli
PowerHD 20kg
PowerHD 30kg
JK 20kg
Savox 1270

so I just ordered ProTek RC 370TBL since it is crazy high torque and actually waterproof. I suspect water is what is killing some of them since they just start to act erractic.

I have stripped output gears, stripped servo horns, I have had a servo just randomly lockout hard turn left and stay there..... and I have had servos just litterally stop working.

I am running them all off a castle creations BEC at 6v or 7.4v depending on what it calls for.

Anyone else have a servo killer, or just me?

I know it doesn't help you now that you've bought a new one, but every servo that I kill, I take apart to see what failed. If it's always a mechanical failure, then it stands to reason that a higher torque servo would be more resistant to the same failures (generally speaking, I know there's still some lemons/under engineered servos out there.) If it's water intrusion, then disassembling your brand new replacement servo to waterproof it might be enough. What are you running for a servo saver?

I have a dhawk bellcrank with the servo saver as loose as it goes.

I still have them all so I can go back.

I would also check your suspension for smoothness and check your endpoints in your radio. Maybe try running the endpoints at 90 to 95% and not at 100. I would also check the drag link on the DHawk bellcrank is not bent and anywhere a link attaches too in not bent. Not sure if your getting them wet but maybe avoid that.

Thanks. Yeah I know i am running 100% end points.

So I'll try that with my new servo and my backup. :/

Went through about 6 or 7 of them in the 2 years in the hobby. Burned, stripped, misteriously died, everything.

There's no reason to set endpoints at a random 90 or 95% when you can set them where they should be. At the maximum angle your steering can physically achieve.

I just got into solid axles and from what I've read the servos you mention are a questionable choice for a Wraith, let alone for a YXL, no? I got me a 7955TG and hope that one'll last longer than usual.

Yeah the first ones definitely were underpowered and I was hoping to cheap out.

But the savox 1270 is over 400oz of torque. I thought it would last.

Yeah. So I have a 7954 in my Bomber and it has held up fine

Hoping the Protek rated at 600oz of torque and fully waterproof will hold up

And I'll set the end points.

I did on the Bomber because the servo can travel much farther than the AR60 hubs and knuckles can.

Yep I can definitely vouch for the 2290 !! It doesn't even cross my mind that I've got a servo lol !! I've broken a aluminum center link/Ackerman link and it still wants more !

well thanks, I bought that protek mainly becuase my waterproofing skills suck. So if I blow that one then I will try that Savox. I really like Savox, but I thought the 1270 would be uyp to the task.... :/
