Default Pro4 3300kv and MMP - Gearing Recommendations?

Currently running the stock gearing with the 3300kv and mmp setup running 2s. After a solid 5 minute hard run the motor got pretty hot. I could hold my fingers on the motor for ~3 seconds but seemed a bit hot. Is there a recommended gearing for this setup? I realize that a Pro4 HD and RX8(gen 2) is a better setup overall but could I at least improve my situation with the current setup?

Thanks in advance.

I wouldn't expect that set up to get overly hot at all.
Hot to touch may not be too hot, do you have a temp gun?
Maybe there is some extra resistance in the drivetrain somewhere, how does it roll?

Yeah I run that setup in my Wraith and never have heat issues. Wouldn't expect it to get hot in a Yeti, either. If nothing else, buy the Castle cooling fan for the motor. Should help out. But definitely check your drivetrain....sounds like something may be binding up a bit.

I did get this Yeti used and simply swapped the motor and esc in. Good thing winter is upon us which gives me time for maintenance on all 4 of my rigs

Just to confirm, the stock spur and pinion and axle gears should be fine for the motor and esc setup I have?

Thanks for the info, this helps a lot

If you want to beef it up, I'd say replace the gears with the Axial HD gears and add a good locker in the rear, i.e. Grip Fab, Locked Up RC, VP, etc. I really like the Locked Up RC FI spool personally. Really beefy part and not hard on the wallet.

Not sure if there are already HD's in there already. I ripped on the yeti pretty hard the other weekend at an event and it held up really well. Granted it was more crawling than it could handle due to the open front diff but still a fun challenge.
