| Tore a Falken, Replace or....
Yesterday at an indoor track I somehow tore a dime size whole on the side of my kit tire. Do I use this as an excuse to get all new different rubber or just get a replacement stock tire? How do the Falkins rate, is it worth the $$$ to go new? I mostly bash and run on the trails fast. I do a indoor track when I take my son and his slash up there. I do need a spare tire for the back still so this isn't a total loss as I could use the torn tire for that with a cheap wheel. Then I'm thinking if I do new rubber, might as well do rims lol. The stock plastic have low miles on them and they show some wear already. Last edited by Tyr-Sog; 03-27-2016 at 07:14 AM. |

I think the tires look amazing, but I haven't used them yet... TeamBaxter (watch his YouTube vids on the Yeti Kit) says they perform well. If you do choose to replace the stock Falkens, you could just use the extra tire you got from the 2-pack and use one as the replacement and the other for the spare.

Replace them with PitBull Rock Beasts and a good set of wheels. You'll be much happier.

I think the Rock Beast II tires would look too big on the Yeti, they are 5.75" tall. Many here recommended the Voodoo U4 which are the same height as the stock tires. I purchased a set of the silver based on the recommendations but I haven't mounted them yet. I will be using the CI standard foams, not sure on wheels yet. I purchased a set of the CI 1" wide plastic wheels, but I don't want to glue on the tires and have to deal with ungluing to tune the foams. I saw those new Pro Line scale BFG KO2 that are coming out, they look like a good choice for the Yeti. Pro-line BFGoodrich All-Terrain KO2 2.2" G8 Rock Terrain Truck Tires |

Thanks for the advice. So many choices lol... I may just get a set of Falkens and some DW foams and be done with it. Looking at wheels and it can get expensive real fast! How are the aluminum rim/ plastic combo wheels? Is it a good compromise over the stocks at a reasonable price? Or is it better to dump the cash and just to go with all aluminum or steel wheel? So an update. Decided on keeping my rubber and just gluing(LHS recommendation, kudos) the flap back in place. Remounted the tires on the stock rims with the flap in the inside. Also I ditched the stock foam and went with some DW single stage(3003) inserts. Now I haven't ran my car yet but holy cow what a difference! I've read from several posts saying that the biggest update was these inserts and I can see why. So all in all I went from spending a lot of $$$ to $30. |
