| Throwing bead non-stop / suggested spring rates
So Im getting back into playing with my yeti after about a 10 month hiatus and quickly remembered why I put it down. It constantly debeads the tires. What do I need to do to make this stop happening? Can I just buy the rc4wd steel wheels to use with the stock tires? Or can the rc4wd mickey thompson baja claws work well with the stock axial beadlocks the truck comes with? Or even simplier than that, would closed cell inserts fix all of this? I run it on 3s so I'd like something thats going to work. I dont care about life span of the tires. And secondly what are the suggested spring rates you all are going with? Are there big bore options that would be better than stock? Thanks. |

Glue the tires to the wheel or a better option IMO for budget would be SSD steel wheels with vp SLW hubs to get the correct offset. you will need to drill the holes out slightly for the slw hubs to fit.

Could I not use the hubs my axial wheels came with?

Yes but it would be best to upgrade to aluminum.

It sounds like you're using it that often. So real bead locks wouldn't be that beneficial in the short term IMO if you're not going to be switching wheels and or tires very often. Pick up a set of Gear Head 6 bolts and glue your stock tires to them. |

6 Bolt is Crawler Innovations not Gear head.

They're a bit of an investment but Locked Up wheels are awesome. I havent pulled a single bead- ever. Voodoo tires and CI closed cell foams.

I got the KMX XD vanquish wheels. What tire should I mount on them? They wont sling a bead right?

Basically any decent aluminum beadlock will not throw beads. I've never heard of anyone pulling a bead on VP beadlocks with any tire.

Since I put my kit together I have not thrown any beads on the stock Method/Falken setup. I scrubbed the beads and rims with alcohol pads before assembly. I'm also using Crawler Innovations standard 2.2 foams.

^ same for me, the kit bead locks and tires with CI foams have given me no issues.

After you guys said that, Im really beginning to wonder if its because the stock foam is so soft that its letting the tire fold over and pop out. I guess ill order some close cell foams also. Any specific height needed? Or is there a "standard" for these tires?

I use the Crawler Innovations Deuces Wild Single stage foams as well with the stock BFG tires and they allow the beadlock to grip more of the tire. Below is the link to the correct foam. Single Stage Closed Cell for 2.2 Standard Tires I run 3S battery as well and I have the stock shocks on the front with 40# oil and blue springs and stock rear shocks with 30# oil with green springs. I have been using the stock licensed Method wheels and Falken tires without any problems. When I was installing them I saw how it would have been easy to clamp them down without getting the bead in the proper place. Took a little fumbling but after the first wheel it was golden! That being said, I am only using a 2S battery and 3150kv motor. 3S might have more tire-ripping power... |

Somewhere I read that the stock wheels are so soft that they are flexing and letting the beads slip out. I think that's what these are for TowerHobbies.com | Integy Wheel Center Core Piece 1/10 Yeti Rock Racer (2) I wire brushed, sanded, and wiped down with alcohol both the Walker wheels and Krawler tires and was careful assembling them. They still pop off like crazy. I run 3S with the 2-speed trans. Forgot to mention that I also trimmed the corners off of the stock foam because I was afraid it was getting caught between the tire and rim. Last edited by gman350; 11-14-2015 at 02:49 PM. |

I started off running the stock kit deadlocks w/ the stock tires and foam. This setup was extremely frustrating because the beads were constantly popping out. I switched to Proline Fautlines w/ Super Swamper XL tires and saw a big improvement. That being said, I was still popping deadlocks but not as frequently. Now I am running Vanquish Method Racing 105 wheels w/ Pit Bull Rockbeast 2 tires. I have not really had the opportunity to test out this new setup because I blew out my rear dif locker/. |
