I installed the HPI spider gears in the rear diff with 1mil oil and is working great.
I tested in the pavement and the Yeti is way more stable now.

how are you keeping the fluid in the diff? I have the O-rings in but eventually the grease gets buy them.

I didn't reopened the diff to check it. I'll do in the next 2 or 3 weekends, for now looks fine.

I did used 4 o-rings in the axles. one under each side of the spider gears (between the diff case and the gear) and other where the axle meets the diff case. I think it will help for sure.

Yes, there is a better diff design. After having the Yeti for awhile, I too got the notion of running an open diff in the rear. HPI gears and o-rings...gave up the thought, and gave up the mess. I love the Yeti XL's rear diff design much better. It's just like a normal 1/8 buggy/truggy diff. Too bad Axial didn't introduce the Yeti XL to the RC community first. Maybe the 1/10 Yeti would have been a smaller version of the 1/8 scale sibling. I just shrugged off the fact that the Yeti is a rock racer, and I can't make it into a platform that does everything great. That gave me an excuse to buy another RC to add to the addiction.

With the stock front diff outdrives being out of stock literally every where, and my lhs saying that they are discontinued, does anybody know of an alternative outdrive that will work with the front diff?

Default Is there a better diff design out there?

Thanks magic_yeti, I was on the dlux website and did not see those on there.

I searched quite a bit looking for the ax30381 or axi30381 (seen it as both) and all I found was that it was out of stock except at active powersports. Although I’ve read something about them were everything is always in stock regardless of if they actually have it.

I’m considering the dlux version but then I’d still need 2 more as I’m going to be using the parts in an exo. And to make it work I’d need 3 sets of the dlux parts

as far as i know the dlux are not a direct replacement they work only with the cvd's together.

so the gpm's are your option, cause they are a direct replacement.

If I decide to go the dlux route, I can possibly put 2 sets on the exo since the diffs need built anyway. The third set could go on the yeti or b1b bomber. Even if I couldn’t run he dlux in the rear I’d still be fine and have at least 1 set of stock style outdrives to use
