Hey, next time you guys are at Seascape Resort, cruise up the beach north to the seawall in front of the homes and check out the rocks in front of the wall. I used to make some incredible trails there!

Re: BAY AREA CRALWERS.Trying to Organize crawling event.Chec

ive crawled there and is tons of fun. :D this spot would be better for a comp anyways because its not up in the resort and there are so many rocks that you could crawl forever and not touch the same one. thanks for reminding me.

Do we have a date yet? or a location?

Re: BAY AREA CRALWERS.Trying to Organize crawling event.Chec

I would say the rocks at hidden beach would be our best place to crawl. I might go check it out this week if I get one of my rigs done. Ill post some pics when I go. Never work on more then one rig at a time lol

We also need to get a final head count and pick a date. If you guys know anyone in your area that crawls tell them about the event. Like 86ss1 says if we get enough people we could get some sponsorship and that would be great. :D

Re: BAY AREA CRALWERS.Trying to Organize crawling event.Chec

As long as it's not labor day weekend I can make it. Going 1:1 wheeling if I can get my jeep done. Mine It's been a while since I've wheeled it. My SOA, F&R axle swap, disc conv., high steer swap has taken more time than I thought. I'm finishing up my traction bar and my brakes currently. Anyway, keep me updated on the event. unfortunately I don't know anyone who crawls R/C.

Re: BAY AREA CRALWERS.Trying to Organize crawling event.Chec

so far we have my 3-4 people, rckjeep,86ss1 and Beenerman. So 7 people. we will have to see what 86ss1 has for people it sounds like he has more then just himself. id say 10-15 people would make a good event.

Sky, I'm sure you already thought of these things but here's what I'd like to see. A map to the location, (after it's been decided), a list of rules (if it's a competition) and damn I forgot what my thought was. Anywho, do we know when it will be?

Do we have a date yet? I'm looking to raise the tranny in my TXT but want to know if I have enough time.

Oh and I found a little spot off highway 9 I need to check out. It's in the creek but it looks shallow enough. Plus it's littered with rocks.

Re: BAY AREA CRALWERS.Trying to Organize crawling event.Chec

mann u went to pebble bech yesterday and on one of the beaches i went to you could have the grand natinal rock crawling championships. There was every type of condition and skill level places to crawl. It is a little ways of a drive but it is pussibly one of he best places i have seen to crawl at.

Dude that Sea Crawling spot is so nice. The rocks there are prefect.
I wanna go check that place out, but i'm all the way in Minnesota. And Up North near the Iron
Range in Minnesota there are nice Rock Triails, Mud pitts, Sand, Small streams that are like 2 1/2 " deep.

Re: BAY AREA CRALWERS.Trying to Organize crawling event.Chec

Rules are up.

General Rules
Scoring starts at 0pts
Winner is decided by the driver with the least points at the end of the competition
Maximum points per gate (100pts) - except if gate is skipped, then its (110pts)
Batteries may not be changed mid course
Broken parts may not be fixed mid course, but if a vehicle can finish broken, hell yeah. Now that's course committment
Gates must be completed in numerical order and in the direction of the course design. No driving to the opposite side of the gate and coming through.

Penalty Points
1 - Reverse "backing up" (5pts) - Not counted if less then the length of the wheelbase Note, entering the course backwards to align up for an obstacle better instantly assesses the reverse penalty.
2 - Rollovers requiring assistance (20pts) - Vehicle must be placed back on wheels where it landed. If its impossible to drive out of that position, the closest driveable location will be used with another 1pt penalty
3 - Vehicle stuck (10pts) - When a vehicle is stuck on an obstacle, the minimum amount of movement needed to free the vehicle is allowed with the penalty Movement must be in backwards to the direction of the course. So a driver cannot move the vehicle further forward to be freed.
4 - Hit Gate (20pts)
5 - Skipped gate (110pts)
6 - Missed course (Maximum course points based on Skipped gate penalties)

Non Penalty Points
1 - Stops (No Penalty) since a stop really doesn't aide the driver that much. It only aides when you have a spotter stacking rocks)
2 - Rollovers and recovering without assistance (No Penalty)

Bonus Points
1 - Progression gates. (50pts) Each gate is a progression through the course
2 - Bonus lines. (100pts) A course may have a more difficult bonus line that can be attempted, but is not required. However, it would be an alternate to a standard gate.

Course Design
Gates (cones, should be placed in a way where they aren't the obstacle to climb but dictate the course. So it shouldn't be a battle of cones, but a battle of the obstacle.
Gates should be not be narrower than 30 inches apart. I recommend 30 just because the obstacles should be the rocks and not so much the gates. The gates define the course designers path.

Vehicle Requirements
Currently Open, but as events occur, a pattern will be seen to where classes should be broken up.
