Default Ultimate Crawler Course

(Couldn't think of any better place to post this)

Ok guys I'm gonna start working on my Ultimate Crawler Course TODAY. I was out
earlier with my little brother going around our property pickin' up rocks when I
thought ok I'm gonna have to get idea's from the guys on this one!
for it to be the Ultimate Course it will have to be a collabrative effort.

Things I have that can be used.......

100 ish feet of 3 inch PVC pipe

15 or so sheets of 4'x8' 5/8'' plywood

almost endless 10 foot 2x4s

endless rocks (sandstone mostly)

endless dirt

endless cedar branchs

All kinds of hand tools/power tools/gardening tools

almost endless time

This doesn't have to look like a nature course. I would rather it be awesome and hard than real looking.

So now I want y'all to give me ideas of things to build for this course.

Give me your ideas and comment on the other ideas, nicely.

I want crazy cool stuff not Vague California Valleygirl shtufff.

Tell me if you want mud pits, hillclimbs ect. ect. ect. ....... and if so don't just say "yeah mud pits sound fun!" tell me high deep how long how wide, that kinda thing.

As soon as this thing is done I will start having comps and all kinda of fun stuff!

How about that idea I said with the scale looking Mountain with trails that wind all around it? The trails could be wide enough for just your TLT but I bet would still be cool for the clods and bigger crawlers to go up the side of the whole thing too. Maybe make it about 5-8ft tall and about 15 wide around or something.

All that stuff you mentioned sounds great. Personally, I like terrain that looks like Moab the best. Like that smooth slickrock or something.

Maybe make a pile of rocks and pour some concrete all over it so that it fills in the big gaps and holes. Concrete gives real good traction and the rougher and nastier it is the better, lol.

One of my favorite types of obstacles are long deep v-shaped crevices that go up the side of the mountain or canyon or whatever. Basically you have to straddle the crack and try not to get too off camber or you'll slide down into it. Real fun and challenging too.

I'll try to find some pics to post up.

Like he said, a winding trail would be sweet, but I think you'd have to really build up the base to support all the weight of the rocks.

I would like to see some huge pyramid-like formation made of wood jutting up somewhere on the course. it'd have to have a wicked camber (50* or so, with some rough patches here and there for traction, but otherwise just the slick wood surface. That'd be a beotch to get up.

Here's 3 pics of that v-shaped crevice I mentioned. It's called Hell's Gate! For good reason too!

In case the pics don't work here's some links.

C_Man, I really liked all the stuff you put in there , thank you very much! I really like the v shape hells gate idea alot! and the mountain trail! i really have some work cut out for me!!!! and yeah the base is gonna have to be hella strong! I think i might just build up a hill of dirt and then put two layers of rocks on it or something.

Plays_with_toys The pyramid thing is gonna be awesome and I think it will be easy-ish to build, yet hard to get over ! sounds awesome! good idea!

Thanks guys! keep it comin'!

This would be the Golden Crack, but it is crossed, not straddled. Although I have seen a few Hummers straddle it just playin around.

Build ruff trails leading up to these Monsterous hills and terrain with ruts and large bumps a long the way to your hill climbs. rap the course around to the next terrain, maybe a tunnel. I always like navigating atunnel with lights on, I had a large valley that dropped down about two foot into a steap hole where they tunnel was and then once you drove through the tunnel you would have to go back up a Huge hill climbin' all the way up.

If I had the time I used to, I would have a sick track in the back yard.... The PVC would probably be useful and maybe some wood here and there but the main thing will be the dirt AND a nice area to build where your track won't get destroyed.

OK cman and I think a tunnel (mining style) would be sweet threw the short part of the mountain (to keep stuck trucks in reach) and I'm thinkin' "HOLY Golden Crack GRAIL" on top since y'all like and know it so much, (just joshin' guys)
but yeah I really think this is gonna come together nicely, can't wait to get "Crackin"!
