Default Cloverfield

Just got back from seeing Cloverfield a few minutes ago...

Great movie! Really tense... I feel like I was carrying a 100 pound weight in the theater the whole time.

Special effect are good. The monster is damn scary... really well done!

Congrats to JJ Abrams and crew; Cloverfield lived up to the hype!

It's really creepy. I'm looking for pics online 'cause it's hard to describe.

It's got a long, whipping tail and these crazy long arm things. You get some really good shots of it too. Not like "Oh! There is for 1/3 second!" but 5, 10, 20 second dead on shots near the end.

The parasite things though... those make my skin crawl. Imagine dog sized crabs that want to feast on you.

UPDATE: This is NOT the monster, but the scale is about right. The parasites look NOTHING like the ones in this pic.

That's the thing about this movie, it doesn't answer questions, just gives you more of them. The movie is just from the point of view of one guy holding one camera the whole time. So whatever he see, you kind of see. only I bet he didn't have the headache I had when I left the theater

No... that's the same monster that I tried to post a link to before.

Size and general shape are similar, but that's about it. Then the parasite things are WAY different.

We went to the matinée today expecting a huge crowd. There was some surprise snow over night though, and I think it kept a lot of people at home. The theater we saw it was about 1/4 full.

By the time we left, the place was loaded up with people waiting for the next matinée to start.

By the way... I just found this:

That definitely IS one shot from the movie, but you don't get a real good look at what it really is like,

UPDATE: Oh! Now the stuff is starting to flood the net. Decent vid of it here.

I really didnt think it was that good. It seemed like another king kong or godzilla to me. If some monster is going to destroy the earth, at least make it something cool.

The best way I can describe the thing would be to say that it looks a little like something out of a Doom video game. When I went to see it though, at the end of the movie every single person in the theater let out a very lound groan about the fact that we didn't get more on the monster. I would like to see them do a sequel that would be setup kind of like the official government report on the incident, with sketches and detailed pictures and maybe a f*cking steadycam or two...

I haven't seen it yet...and will probably wait for the DVD release but, knowing who directed & produced it...I had some preconceived ideas that this monster would be "hidden" and that people would be left with a "that's it?" feeling at the end. If anyone here watches LOST, you'll know what I mean

No, not a "that's it" feeling. You get to see lot's of the creature, you just don't get to find anything out of what it is. As far as the sequel, both the director and JJ Abrams have made comments that IF there is a sequel it will be the same event from a different persons view. Basically another "found" camera's footage. BTW for anyone going to see it nw. Pay very close attention at the very end of the movie. Don't look at the two in the last scene, look behind them;)

^ FYI, Besides size comparison (the smaller ones aren't quite that big) that's not even close to what it looks like...

That's enough for me to say "that's it?" They give me a look and a whole movie about this monster...but don't tell me anything about it? I'd be swearin' up and down :-P
