| Scary Spring Under
Went to a local cruise night with Dad tonight, and after we finished looking around and started to walk back to my Jeep and came across a very well used post war Chevy p/u that had been lowerd a bit. Just before we got to the truck Dad and I both noticed something that made both of us stop in our tracks. The guy used lowering blocks and new u-bolts to drop the rear, but didn't have the bolts over the axle tube Here's the pics Dad took! Yea, the bed was bad enough we didn't need to look under the truck to see the lowering job! I actually saw the guy driving past the street the car show was on, Dad and I still can't believe it's held together this well |

After seeing that, I was afraid to see what he did to lower the front axle, for some reason Billitlift keeps coming to mind here.........

Didn't get pics of them, but there was also a gasser style '64 Dodge with a solid axle and leaves with most of the underhood portion of the unibody cut away for fenderwell headers and an ok, but somewhat rough looking glass Model T or Model A that has the fan shroud made of cardboard and black duct tape | |

From what I see that setup should be fine. I think that rear axle was out of some kind of car that used trailing arms(I could be wrong) and they simply welded some type of spring perch into the trailing arm pocket. So the rearend is attached solid to the block and spring. Thats just my opinion. I personally would have set it up like my last model A that I built but I think what he had will get the job done. |

actualy its kinda hard to tell from those pics but that actualy looks like a bolt on spring perch that would normaly use "square" type U bolts...so in that case all looks like it's "probably" suposed to....

I'm not too sure on what axle the guy was using, both front and rear axles were 6 lug and the same type of rim (and matched the "patina" the rest of the truck was wearing. Just seemed like it would have been smarter to get longer u-bolts and strap them over the top of the axle than halfass it. Those blocks still reminds me of the "billit lift" lift kits that were selling on E-Bay a few years back that were booggered together aluminum tube.

yea but without welding new spring perch's on the axle tubes he cannot just get longer U bolts and do like you think he should have.....look closer to what your seeing the spring perch is offset from the center line of axle tube.
