How do you think you would have reacted after a head on collision?

Wasn't a head on collision, but on a trip to CT to attend a race we had a van blow past us and plow into a support for a bridge.

First thing I did was call 911, run to the van, look for the driver. Found him about 75 feet away in a tangled mess. Looked up and the van was starting to burn.

Ran to the van and searched for anyone else that might've been riding with him. Found a car seat that was unbuckled. :-(

Searched all over the van for as long as I could and found no sign of a kid.

I feel sorry for that dude. He's going to have a rough way to go for a good while.

It's people like this that instill hope that the rest of humanity may just have a chance that guy deserves a medal, plain and simple.

I think this guy is a hero also, but I feel sorry for him at the same time. Being a fireman and rescue squad worker here where I live. We've been in similar situations. Your happy as hell to save the ones you can but thinking of the ones you could not will haunt you for a while.
