And,

Bernie Ecclestone has hinted that a novel approach to reducing testing costs will be adopted by Formula One in the near future.

This year's in-season testing ban has been controversial, not because the teams have struggled to develop their cars, but because it has all but ended the test-driver era as well as made it difficult for newcomers to enter the sport.

"I am sure that in the future we will test on the Monday after races," the F1 chief executive said in an interview with Germany's Auto Motor und Sport.

"The cars are already there, the people as well. The costs will be kept within limits and we can give young drivers a chance.

"The failure of the current system is that it is virtually impossible to test young drivers," Ecclestone explained.

Wow, 2 big crashes and Kimi on fire (literally). Hell of a first lap, and my man Rubens is out front

Tupers 10-18-2009 10:23 AM

And some sketchy pit lane antics. I can't remember I was fire in the first lap of an F1 race.

We win. :flipoff:  :flipoff:

Congrats to Button.

After 10 years in F1, this championship was almost well deserved.

GySgt Hartman 10-18-2009 12:30 PM

Button, blah... He got lucky being in a diffuser car at the beginning of the season.

The better story here is Braun clinching the constructors championship, I'd be willing to bet somebody at Honda just committed harakiri.

I'd love to hear an interview with Kimi after that fire.

Can't wait for next year.

That's gotta be the best pit lane exit of any racing track around.

EeePee 10-30-2009 02:29 PM

Kimi to McLaren to replace Heikki.

What an incredible place! Wow! A man made island I think I heard them say?

Talk about oil money.

Watched both practices, and look who's on top!

JB!

Oh wait, there it is.

How are those brakes working out?

microgoat 11-01-2009 04:52 PM

Great race and awesome circuit, but there's something wrong about a trophy girl in a head scarf.

EeePee 11-02-2009 07:15 PM

That was something else. Almost too showy of a place?, too overdone?, but incredible indeed.

Funny after race banter that didn't air on the BBC broadcast. Well, some did, but not all.

Funny.

microgoat 11-02-2009 07:21 PM

Apparently there's no Arabic translation for the word "overdone". Look at the architecture in Dubai, there's some freaky shit there.

I wonder what the odds were on Button becoming champ at the start of the season? Something like 400-1?

Should be a change for the good, hopefully it'll take some of the tactics out of F1.
