as stupid as that ruleing is i feel that he should have atleast told the police on the phone that he had found a gun and would like to know what to do.

If some one called me at work requesting to see me with out any mention of the nature of the viset, then came in and pulled out a gun and put it on the table i dont think my reaction would be to thank them for bringing it in.

Not sure why he didn't mention having the gun when he called. At the very least he could have saved himself the trip to the police station.

But that is messed up that he got jailtime out of it.

That story is a Democrats wet dream. They wish it was like that in the USA.

Oh good grief! I feel sorry for this young man. He did the right thing, for cripes sake! To think he has been arrested, tried and convicted of a "crime" simply boggles the mind. He may very well have saved at least one life, by turning the gun over to authorities, rather than leaving it there LOADED for someone to use in the commission of an actual crime.

Methinks its time for the upstanding citizens of his community to start writing letters or even start a petition (if possible) to have this young mans sentence overturned.

Is it possible for him to appeal the decision to a higher court? I don't know how the law works there.

That guy's a dumb ass, I really don't understand why he didn't call the cops and have them collect it from his house. I'm not surprised he got arrest considering considering whoever was at the desk would have known if it was loaded or not. His sentence is harsh and it's the law but I wouldn't be surprised if it gets over turned.
