Did a swing like that once at Yosemite. No chute though and a bit shorter, just a swing. It's much freakier swinging back than out lol! That's awesome! This reminded me of a friend that passed a while back, so I dug up an old post from 08 and thought I would share. Hope this isn't considered hijacking but it's on the same vein: This guy was THE most inspirational, amazing, friendly, hardcore mother fu@#er I've ever had the privelage of knowing.I knew him 5 short years. He taught me about faith and fear... how to climb; and fall...with grace. He passed away doing what he loved attempting the longest static rope (not bungee) jump ever at Yosemite on November 23 1998. You use a climbing rope and about 50 anchors/quickdraws up the cliff side, but you cut each one to fail but provide a little bit of braking action before snapping. If you do the math right you can fall hundreds of feet snapping anchorsall the way down, but the last 1 or 2 at the bottom will hold. All he needed was 3 or 4 more...... I was there... the video was buried with him.... truly an amazing man and one of the biggest losses in my life and the climbing world back then. Just drinkin' and cleaning up my ropes and gear and found an old pass from El Cap with our names on it sad sad What a guy though! I will never forget him. Just though I would share FWIW NO ROPES http:// I think that might be my lanky ass laying tyroleans at 1:12 Never jumped like he did myself ever though!!! Just a gopher really, but a gopher with balls or lack of common sense, whatever. Listen to the rope at 2:12 Recor jump around 2:44 7:15 his first static jump http:// Last edited by solomon7; 02-03-2010 at 09:27 PM. |
