Default Trebuchets, and slings

Anyone know about trebuchets,, more specifically the floating arm type. I am working on designing a massive one. But i'm having problems on how to design the sling, i know i want a release angle at 45* but coming up with a way to do that is quite confusing when trying to simulate results in my head. Any help would be great

Have a look at the english version of scrap heap challenge. They did an episode on medieval weaponry. The expert they had on the show described how to set you release angles and firing trajectory.
