i was waitin on my gf to get off work @midnight..midnight came and went..no call..?
finally she calls @12:30am..she's just getting onto hwy heading
towards me..waters at middle of her wheels (jeep cherokee)..
landscaping timbers all over hwy..police car in ditch..she's freakin out.
i told her to pull into gas station,the rain is fixn to slack off for @10-15min
just wait..
i had to go check the bridge by my house to even see if she could make it too me..water was 3ft from cresting bridge..i knew that the rain was gonna slack off..and then then another wave was coming..i called her
and asked what it looked like now..she said water had slowed down and cars were still going by..i said "get to driving" you've got a 5-10 min window to get to me before the water crest' the bridge..im headed your way.
i met her at a small local gas station and led her back to my house.

as soon as we got hm i checked the tv and they just got call saying
pinnacle at hwy 300 was under water...we made it just in time.

all is well..
for the moment..
its @2am.

@3am i get a call from my mom..in paron(high ground)
she's frantic asking if id heard from my brother..??
( lives at family office/house)(lowspot at base of chenal mtn)
i said no,i havent..
she said he'd called saying his car was going under and the
water was fixing to come thru the front door and sewage was
backing up in the house..and then lost signal..
she said she'd been trying to call him back and couldnt
get him to answer..she asked if i was going to go get him..
i said,im stuck mom,pinnacle is already flooded,i cant get out.
i said id try to call him..i called.. no answer..
i wait and watch the weather.

the whole time im thinkin what i should do..??

phone rings..its daniel..i answer .."hey,you ok?"
his voice was in a state of panic..
"man, i dont know..i cant drive my car its almost at my hood..
the door is moaning, i dont know how much longer it will hold..
im getting all the computer/office equipment up as high as i can
now..(this next part was funny looking back)..
"man,i want you to know im sorry if i ever was a lil prick to you
and i love you."
i said .."hey dont talk like that bro,rains fixn to slack off for a bit,
get what you can saved,and watch the water,if it starts coming up any more get up to the hwy,im gonna call 911 for ya,love ya."

i call 911,give info,helps on the way..
i hang up..im pacing the floor thinking of my lil bro
and what could happen,what i can do..

f!@$ it! ..i have to try..he's my brother..
i grab my waders/dry bags/flashlights/extra clothes
and head towards him..hoping the bridge is passible..
it was still under..

my only wayout and less than a mile from him..
(same creek bed runs by him and thru pinnacle)

ive never felt so helpless..
knowing a loved one was in trouble and so close
but theres nothing you can do to help them.

i turn around and head back to my house..
beating myself up,for not being able to help..

i get back home..its now @4am
i get a txt saying .."waters going down"
"moms almost here,luv ya"

i txt back.."glad to hear it,go get some sleep,more is coming."

oh..
my dad had just got to kansas to go turkey hunting this weekend.
he called as i was turning off the lights saying he was on his way back home.

what a night.

were supposed to get upto 6in today thru 2mrw..

57 counties declared disaster areas from rain/tornados..

went and helped family start the clean up..
tearing out carpet,sucking up all the water we could with dry vac's.

the laundry room..

mud in the washing machine..

the shop..

dad..running on 20min sleep in 2 days..

went out to look at my jeep..

water was over gas cap..?

can water get in tank with cap on?

skid loader is water logged..

deer skull dad found in kansas..

cleaning up,i found my brothers movie scripts he had written..

his old comic book collection,he had just moved from the top shelf
to under his bed,2 days before..was trashed..

i brought his movie prop gun collection home and started cleaning them..
