Clean truck, I think that year they had some issues with the automatic transmissions......And those things are so easy to make tire smokers.....

Afe Stage 2 intake and a mbrp 4" exhuast and that thing will breathe soooo much better......good luck

Wow that's a steal! I paid almost that for a '99 V10. If there are no known issues I'd jump on it if I were you.

That's a good deal, but if it has a auto tranny, it's gonna need a new one soon. They only last about 70,000 miles in a cummins. Mine is a 6 speed, only way to go if you plan to haul with it.

Sounds like a good deal. Like 'mogger said, if it's a automatic the tranny is on borrowed time. Had a guy here in TN rebuild one for us for less than $1000.

The new Cummins trucks are supposed to have a better automatic in them. I hope so, that's what is in my '05. :?

I have heard the same things about the Auto in them. I have also heard that if you don't pull heavy loads alot the tranny should be fine. The only thing I'm towing is a Jeep on a Trailer and thats not that heavy. I'm talking to the bank Friday. Wish me luck.

Believe it or not, they will go out towing NOTHING at all. I have a 6 speed in my 2001 cummins hauler and it has 259,000 on it and still has the ORIGINAL clutch in it. The auto's from 1994-2002 were not very good. Good luck at the bank, looks like a very nice truck.

I have seen a couple of the 3/4 tons that have had problems with the rearends. Seems there is some kind of ring that is attached to the ring gear which has something to do with the ABS (?) that would, over a period of time of normal hauling, break off from the ring and tear the gears to shreds. Dodge did a silent recall to fix the problem. But you know how silent recalls go. Personally have seen 4 3/4 ton 4wd's that this has happened to. Both gas and diesel.

If it is a HO Cummins and a 2001.5, then it should be a six speed manual, IIRC.

Well think won't go over 2 years with it. So it's a No Go on the Diesel.
But for some odd reason I can afford this.
2004 LTD Dodge Durango
Hemi V8 5.7L
Leather
Sunroof
4x4
Tow Package
40,000 miles
$16,000.....Going to Sunday to test drive it.
This isn't it, but is the same color and package.
The guy told me he gets 18-20 mpg on the Highway.

Man I know this is no where near the towing machine as the 2500, but I have a Baby on the way and me and my wife drive 2dr sports cars. I need a tow rig and she wants 3 rows of seating. I was told I would get my Diesel next time.
