Default I must be feeling better...

Took the day off work today, just to catch my breath and relax a little after having a long and busy week last week.

Or so I thought

Started out the door to the bmx shop for some parts for a gear change on the youngest's bike and the BOSS (read old lady) stopped me dead in my tracks and insisted on me doing a brake job on the minivan before anything else in the garage gets worked on. Go get rotors and pads, pull out the tools and not quite 2 hours I'm ready for my trip to the bmx...I mean test drive.

She jumps in the van, loads kids up and says "see you in a few hours, make sure you're cleaned up to take the kids to swim lessons."

She texts me 15 minutes later and tells me thanks and good job on the brakes

Now my in-laws want theirs done too

I hate getting volunteered for that crap. Make sure to give them a "taillight warranty".....when you dont see their taillights anymore, the work is out of warranty.

Sounds like a relatively painless way to rid yourself of said in-laws...

I quit doing my inlaws auto repair and maintenance long ago. Its just not worth it, especially when they start to expect it done ASAP.

I like some of you guys' suggestions....but they end up just waiting until I get around to it. They've been wanting brakes done for months now. You'd think after my bought with pneumonia that landed me in ICU for a week they'd get the hint.

They also want me to fix some electrical problem with the jetted tub in the master bathroom. Checked it out and there is a open in the 120v circuit between the breaker and the outlet the pump plugs into. They thought the pump motor was bad. Told them we were lucky the place didn't burn to the ground, although with the GFCI breaker that would be hard to do. Mom in-law was blaming it on the cats that get under the TRAILER.

"Mom, they didn't put the wiring under the trailer just for that reason".

And there is no access to the wiring in the ceiling without demolishing the whole place, OF COURSE.

I just ran one of the father-in-laws 100' cords to another outlet (right around the corner) with a construction style portable GFI and said there you go. Now want to know when I'm going to rewire it.

Told them once the doc's give me the all clear from the big P I'll be putting them on the list...at the very bottom of a blank page.
