I remember doing similar to a pair of snow tires on my 1976 Chevy Nova with a factory 350Ci (5.7L) V-8 and a posi rear.

I was going to put on new snow tires (NEEDED for this car) and wanted to "waste" the existing tires.
The tire marks were on the public road for almost a year.......
Frikking rubber smell was INSIDE the car almost as long.....

It's a methanol car; aparently (they think) that because the car was so close to the safey barrier, and because it dumped enough fuel out of the exhaust, the fuel ignited and FIRE!

Here's another view

id be willing to bet money the tires were marinated
often done for burnouts for more smoke, but these guys must have soaked them in something flamable for the above effect. they knew what they were doing. fire started instantly, definatly not of "natural" causes.

Looks Like Holden HQ SS....my guess a 72? They didn't change much in the few years they were made. Love them and the other Aussie cars like the Falcon and such.

I doubt thats from fuel out the pipes. They probably sauced the tires.....

I'm thinking the same thing, the fire started on the tires and if it was alchohal, the fire should have been a different color too.

Could be a 74, they had orange indicators in the front bumper instead of white.
I had one for my first car, 350ci Chevy and Turbo400 trans. I wish I still had it, they are worth a fair bit these days.
