Verry cool, I think I saw the episode where he bought that. It was all smashed and was still worth like $150k. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... Thanks for posting these, been wanting to know if they pulled it off for a while now. New Series June 10th apparently |

i actually like the LED running lights. looks like they ditched the flip up headlights completly and went to louvers. http://mimg.ugo.com/200807/26731/ferrari-f40-4.jpg |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... Sweet! |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... WOW, they did more to it then I had thought they would, color change, the lights and the wheels. Not sure I would have went that way on this type of car. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... I hate my life. Thats my favorite car. |
my favorite supercar by far... i just saw that episode. they paid around 400k with the help from the rich blond dude that shows up on the show every once in awhile. it takes alot of stones to buy a wrecked f40 and rebuild it, but it looks like they pulled it off and did a pretty good job. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... Black and red have got to be my favorite exterior/interior by far! |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... they paid around 400k with the help from the rich blond dude that shows up on the show every once in awhile. Isn't the "rich blonde dude" one of the owners of one of those offroad jeep places down in Texas? Collins Brothers Jeep or something? I like what they did with it!"thumbsup" |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... looks funny in black....glad they pulled it off...but when you have big money backing you anything is possible.. |

Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... been wondering where the show went.. turned out awesome!!!!!! dennis bought the car for 400k and richard from gas monkey was paying for the parts and labour to rebuild it.. im glad they could finish it.. cant wait for the show to be back on"thumbsup" |
Ahhhhhhh ok I think 150k might have been the guesstimate on repairing it then or maybe I just have 150k stuck my head lol |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... ^^ yeah i think that was the repair price your thinking of. they were hoping to make 200k profit on it.. if they took it to auction they are taking a huge gamble cuz you never know whats gonna come out of it, they could get 100k or 800k for it..guess we'll have to wait and see."thumbsup" |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... 400k for smashed ? I'm pretty sure You can buy un-smashed car for that price... I like the looks of this one but I bet there's a big bunch of Ferrari people out there saying it was raped |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... One of my favorite super cars, I like it. ... I have to admit it though, when I first read the title of the thread, I read it as "FJ40" not F40 and was a bit disappointed when I saw the pics.:ror: |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... Am I the only one that thinks these guys are total hacks? I would much rather someone like Ring Brothers get their hands on that car. I do 'sort of' like what they did with it - nice to see an F40 that isn't red. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... Not a real big fan of these guys. Anyone who has done any work on a car that has sat in a barn or undriven for long period of time knows what it takes to get it going again. Picking the car up for 5k and turning it around for 20k to 30k is very uncommon. I'm sure most of it is just for the show....and that's fine, but no one pays top dollar for a car that looks like hammered dog shit and has had the repairs rushed through to get it to an auction. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... Rumored to have been George Foremans Ferrari that his mechanic crashed on a test drive. Mechanic wrecks out-of-town owner's $500,000 Ferrari F40 . |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... They ruined any worth it could have to the Ferrari purists, so the best they could hope for is some idiot with too much money thinking it is cool buying it. I do like the way they did it, but if they did that to increase it's worth they failed. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... no ferrari purist would have ever bought that car being wrecked, do you have any idea the cost to have that car recertified by ferrari? they did exactly what needed to be done. the buyer for a salvaged F40 isnt looking for a pure origonal collector ferrari. its a different market. |

i personally love watching this show and the type of cars the restore and flip.. obviously there's more cars that go through the shop than what the show shows because there's no friggin way your keeping a shop open that big with only 3 cars or less a week.. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... The rumor is that they did not pay $400k for it. The producer bought it for something like 75k and then made an episode around it. I don;t like what they did with it at all. With those headlights and the color it looks like they faked a 1 of 19 built LM F40. I believe only one of those cars was black. A real LM recently sold for $800k. |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... I can't believe watching the show lastnight that they were mig welding on the chassis. Come on you fawking hacks break out the tig welder and do it right. |

Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... I bet Richard loses his shirt....again. Have they ever made money at an auction? |
Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... I have to put my 2 cents in. I'm a long time Ferrari owner. Some of my friends are long time Ferrari owners. We own or have owned both street cars and racing cars. Anyone paying $400,000 for that wreckage is an idiot. It is only good for whatever parts can be salvaged from it. It is possible to buy an undamaged F40 between $550,000 and $600,000. The Gas Monkey F40 will have a salvage title, the car was not repaired properly, the "Kustom" changes decrease the value, and their previous paint jobs have always been short-cuts. The color is not as important as you think, as long as it looks good at 6 inches, not at 20 feet. 90% of a paint job is the preparation, and they don't do the preparation. If it had been sent back to the Ferrari factory for repairs, they would have started by junking the bent frame and building a new one. Although knowing the people at Maranello, they would have demanded the money up front, because the cost of properly restoring the car would have far exceeded the value. I wouldn't touch the car. My friends wouldn't touch the car. No Ferraristi that I know would touch the car. I'm betting that the car will be "sold" for some ridiculous high price, and I'm also betting that the sale will be for entertainment purposes only. |

Re: gas monkey garage F40 finished... ferraristi - Wiktionary I would have picked something cooler but I guess if you have that kind of money to waste on a car you can call yourself whatever you want. |
