Default question about O2 sensor on my truck...

I need to replace my O2 sensor on my 87 ford ranger with a 2.9L. I can not for the life of me get this this thing out. I have broke off everything on the sensor down to the hex for the socket to sit on. I used penetrating oil and some heat (my little torch). I started with a 1/2" X 20" breaker bar that didn't get it out. I can get an impact on it, so I tried my 1/2" impact, that didn't do it either.

so my question is does anyone have any ideas to get it out?

or can I move down the exhaust pipe just a little, and weld in new bung? then just put my new sensor in the new bung?

any ideas would be great, thank you.

YOu can move it without issue as long as it is close, within a 6 inches should be OK.

Yup shouldn't be an issue at all. Orielly's will have some of the more popular bungs in stock. You might get lucky and the bung will be a standard thread, if so weld a nut on there and be done with it.

MAP gas will help if you don't have access to a bigger torch. you need to get it cherry red (or close to it) as soon as that happens start wrenching.

OK I'll try my Oxy/acetylene torch. I just hate putting that torch in the tight areas on greasy vehicles. Lol
