Default VXI suspension... is this guy a kook or is he on to something?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?featur...&v=-Mq3gpBWU1E

Was looking up ifs designs the other day and came accross this. I like different suspension designs and this is that. I dont know that much about suspension but I cant belive there is that much tire wear from tire scrub due to suspension cycling but maybe? The steering system seems kinda wacky to me naybe with some refining it could work? I read another write up on this and it said the army and some car company where looking into this set up. I'm guessing things never panned out. what do you guys think?

He could be doing worse things. Hope he makes money off it. Bet it took a ton of hours. I notice only one sides done.

Many of the things his design "fixes" can already be fixed with proper suspension tuning, or at least tuned to the point of not caring.

Also, that's a ton of shit just begging to be bent the first time you hit something.

Also, I'd like to see it in action, seeing as how the camber links are not attached to the chassis...

Severely over complicated. Far too many pieces to fail, any of which could be catastrophic in a 1:1 application.

Points for creativity and out of box thinking though.

this seems more of a POC (proof of concept) model more than anything thing we'd see on store shelves from the rc companies. the guy, well, i think he's got a screw or 2 loose, but if this is what makes him happy, who am i to judge.

all that being said, i see no commercial viability in it, too complex, and to make it durable even for rc use would cost. it would be sort of neat to see a full size version of the design getting tested though. i've seen and considered some wacky suspension ideas (so glad there isn't a camera in my shed...) and this is right up there with the wackiest ones, but if it could be employed without durability and reliability becoming a massive concern, i'd probably watch video of it.

looks like somebody had a bunch of old hot trick buggy parts and alot of time to waste.

great to think all that out i guess. i once knew a guy who spent all his time working on a revolutionary bicycle seat design that moved with your asscheeks. he was REALLY into it...

He effectively made an overly complicated I beam suspension . Still my favorite long travel design for its brutal simplicity, and positive handling.

Lots of complicated answers to questions that have been answered for decades. Kudos for completing the thought all the way to the end but fawking fail for the execution.

I drew up this set up but in a more finished product and I wouldn't mind tring it on my 1/6 scale some time just to try it out but yeah its a lot of parts.

Brutally tough, yes. Handling, not so much when it has a camber arc that looks like this. ( )
