Yep, done it a bunch of times... I usually make a trail of ether to light, instead of the blowtorch method

I use that method for R/C tires too. RCC is not responsible if you hurt yourself trying to put R/C tires on using this method. |

Yeah, used that method on a few ATV tires, but like TC stated, we just made a trail of fluid instead of the flame thrower method.

Yea, I had to do that to a set of 38's once. IMO, they used to much ether and that blow torch method is dangerous. |

We just did that in the middle of the woods about 3 weeks ago. Buddy of mine had his mud truck out, had it off the trailer for 3 minutes, FIRST deep hole he hit, right front tire came off the rim. So 10,000lb truck, in the mud, on 44"s with rockwells... tire off the rim.. the choice was, let the 5 ton drag him back to the trailer, and then try to figure out how to get it on the trailer and tied down, or explode the tire onto the rim. Mind you, none of us had DONE that before.. only seen it in videos like the one you showed. after 8 tries we put a ratchet strap around the tire.. still took 3 or 4 more tries but we finally got it. Used the air from the 5 ton to fill it up the rest of the way. It did work, everything was ok. After doing it I've heard a bunch of stories about people doing it with too much ether and getting hurt.. But it worked for us.. -Jay |

Most wheelers have either done it or seen it done. I love the expressions on peoples faces that have never seen it done. They think you are pissed at your rig and gonna blow it up or something, haha. I prefer a grill lighter, leaves more hair on my arms, and eyebrows.
