Must have mods for the DRZ series;

keihin fcr39mx carb
Full exhaust of choice (for DS riding, an FMF powerbomb header and Q4 silencer would be my pick)
3x3 airbox mod
JD jet kit
Kientech fuel screw
Renazco racing seat on the high end (my personal favorite) or Seat Concepts seat for roughly half the cost.
Suspension valved for your weight and riding style
case savers
Unabiker radiator guards
Cycra pro bend handguards or the like
folding levers
DS mirrors
A legit skid plate

The DRZ is a great platform, and if taken care of are damn near bombproof motors. Change the oil when the shifter (shared oil system) tells you to, owners manual be damned, and it will serve you well for a long, LONG time to come. Congrats on the new scoot!

The Mustang GT was the most popular where I was from in the late 80's early 90's, and they were pushing 16sec in the quarter. That's just nuts to me.

Has anybody thrown drag radials on a late model FWD sedan? Been thinking it would be interesting to see the results of that. Since the 2011-2014.5 Avenger and 200 with the 3.6l still used the same front brakes as the 2.4l 4 speed base model cars from when the platform first came out for 2008, it might be possible to run a 16x8-16×9 drag wheel for a '94-'04 or '05-'14 Mustang up front with an appropriately sized 26"-27" drag tire up front, could probably nust run a set of skinnies for the same Mustangs out back too if youwanted to really screw with people:ror:

I have a '14 DRZ, did the 3x3 w/ the JD kit and an MRD full exhaust. Made a big difference, though I geared mine way low for highway use.

Gopro

This is the 2018 Hero, which is supposed to be the low end camera for 2018. I just want to start getting some basic video so I didn't really need anything super fancy and Amazon had these on sale for $175 with free 1 day shipping.

A little research informed me the 2018 Hero is exactly the same hardware as the Hero 5 black (which was their top of the line camera 2 years ago), just limited through kneecapping by the firmware. About 3 minutes of effort and the firmware from the Hero 5 black was installed which enabled things like 4K video, GPS tagging, linear field of view mode (which corrects the Gopro fisheye look), 12MP still pictures (up from 10MP), and a bunch of other stuff. Gopro still sells the Hero 5 black for $250, I got this camera which now is exactly the same as the Hero 5 black, a 128GB micro SD card, 2 extra batteries, a multi battery charger, and a flexible tripod for less than that. "thumbsup"

This is what Gopro says:

Linear field of view captures a straight horizon with a more natural perspective. This mode eliminates the barrel distortion (fish-eye effect) typically captured by your GoPro's wide-angle lens, without compromising image quality.

This is what it looks like:

Is this new to GoPro? Other action cameras have had this for a while.

I was blown away when I learned GoPro kept the same hardware as the last gen. It's very sneaky and odd. I'm very surprised by that seeing as how they are on the brink of bankruptcy anyway.

I'm interested to hear how you like this camera. I never sprung for a GoPro because I've been very happy with my Xiaomi Yi cameras at half the price, but I always have a wanting to try a "real" GoPro.

It has been at least 2 years for this FOV mode but it has been limited to the high end models. Spending $300-400 on a camera to get that feature was never something I was going to do but I'll gladly use it now that I have it.

Linear field mode will be much better for what those cameras were primarily designed for also. That is assuming you can use it in video mode. Fish eye lenses greatly distort the sense of speed.

Ah that makes more sense.

I wish the Session would have a replaceable battery. I do have one of those, but they are garbage as soon as the battery's life expires. The compact size is perfect.

in gopro studio you can do the same. but it does add an extra process to editing.

The new Hero 7 with the image stabilization intrigues me, but the price is way too far out of my budget. I've had my eye on the ThiEye T5E. It's got the 1080@120hz that I want, plus an external mic input for $100. For now I'm using a $30 "Apeman" camera that does surprisingly good 1080p video.

Has anyone tried that "send in an old digital camcorder and get $100 off" from GoPro? Curious as I'd like to upgrade from my Hero3 but I'm not sure yet...

Haven't seen that...I'd sure let the old Handycam go for a c note off a Hero!

Edit: That's only applicable toward a Fusion...$600 - $100 = $500 = over budget.

I went to the lhs for a tf2 lwb and ended up walking out with a rock rey kit! I’ve been meaning to get one for a while but never did.

That's like going in for a urethra swab and getting a BJ instead! Worked out much better in the end. :)

That’s true, the tf2 build though, I wouldn’t even be using the body. The window though would get used on another build.

At the same time though I’m not starting the rock rey until I get some necessary upgrades
