R/C to 1:1 rock crawling

Did somthing from the rccrawler world transfer over to the 1:1 crawling world?
Look that nice slippery plastic skid plate.

thats pretty sweet, RC having an influence on 1:1:!: ;-) thats just awesome

I know I read about plastic skid plates like that over a year ago on pirate, not sure how long they have been doing it.

JeremyH 03-28-2007 07:14 AM

They have been doing it for a while. Open up this months issue of Crawl and flip to the article on that FJ Buggy and take a look at his tranny skid. I think he used some thick UHMWPE.

Wrecker 03-28-2007 07:14 AM

1:1's have been using delrin skid plates since before rccrawling was ever really around, at least back in the early 2000-2002.

Yep, been around for a while."thumbsup"

they have the military grade self lubricating plastic so that as you scratch it, it releases a slick innard within the molecular structure of the plastic. helps you get over the rocks.

That's cool stuff right there.

This was the first time I have seen it on a 1:1. I don't fallow rockcrawling much so I'm a little slow.:flipoff:

Once they go electric, that's when you'll know RC has had an impact "thumbsup"

DJEEPER 03-28-2007 10:23 AM

yeah... like when they have massive brushless motors that you have to wear lead aprons on your body whenever you are around them:lol:

run2jeepn 03-28-2007 11:23 AM

I remember Curt Hildebrand running them on his 1:1 Crawler over 3 years ago.

I know somebody who has been working on an electric 1:1 crawler for about a year now he should finish it up when he gets back from the navy.

Imagine an electric powered torsion chassis 1:1 rig!

Imagine the slingshot effect from said rig. :)

I vaguely remember seeing a pic of a monster electric motor hooked to an atlas. Guessing it didn't get to far, unless it's the same thing mentioned above. I think the rules prohibit electric, but never read into them very clearly. I know things like 4 individual hydro motors at each wheel wasn't allowed.

Rc_Kid 03-28-2007 06:32 PM

sweet 1:1

wouldent alot of guys run propane before going electric on 1:1's
