It is just a play on words. They add the last two dollars at the end for a goal of $30, when you should be subtracting the $2 for a goal of $25.

That's older than you guys (except Robb) are.The trick is to not think about the $30.00,They paid $27.00 minus the $2.00 that the bellboy kept = $25.00

I don't know how true it is but I was told that it comes out wrong because our number system is supposed to based on 9 digits and not 10.
