Talking Where does it come from?

Anyone know where the term "35%" originated from?

hes talking about the not work safe threads.
all my other forums put NWS on the title, when i came here they had this 35% thing. i have no clue what it means or where it came from, but put 2 and 2 together and figured out it was the "not work safe" threads....

My understanding is that it originated from pictures of women whom had less than 35% covered,it later evolved into another form of NWS.

i believe it also deals with language. i posted a video of a jeep that was fast and surprised another guy and he yelled

holly ----

after that my thread had that 35% thing

I think 35% is stupid, people don't understand it. NWS works much better.

It used to mean nudity, or close to nudity, in a thread. The old story behind it was that work web filters would block web pages that contained at least 35% of "skin tones," although I have no idea if that was the actual beginning to it.

It is/was used most often over on PBB, and since a lot of the members/mods here were members over there before coming here, the tradition just kind of continued here................and has come to signify anything that would inappropriate to open at work.

I always thought it meant that 35% of you will get fired for looking at this at work.

I prefer NWS and generally I use that denotation. It surprised me to see people here not know what that meant.

Hell, I liked it so much, I own a website called isnot.ws (is not worksafe).

This is kind of how I heard it explained once also...

My understanding is there is some sort of program that the IT people used to search peoples computers at work for at least 35% of skin tones in their history folder or whatever...either way, the idea is there and I believe one of these or a combpnation of both to be the actual meaning..
