Default Carbon Fiber Junky's wet dream

I was taking a stroll around the park the other day, when I saw this Cannondale trailer. I walked up, and talked to the tech. Turns out, he is the factory chief mechanic. He was offering test-rides, all the bikes he had were race versions. I tried out the Rush, the whole frame (minus swingarm) is carbon, so is the handlebar, the brake levers, the pedal cranks, and it comes with hydraulic brake disks. For those in the know, what is the difference in performance between Hydro and mechanical disks, and the diff. between rim-brakes (if thats what you call them) and mechanical disks? I've been thinking of getting a new bike.
here are the pics

Does it even have a Carbon Fiber basket to store your toy poodle?

What about a Carbon Fiber horn?

Bikes are bikes...real bikes have motors!

Having disc brakes is HUGE upgrade over a conventional V-brake. Disc brakes have significant more stopping power, are unaffected by the elements (such as water/mud), pad life is twice if not more then v-brakes which if you have a really nice hoop youll save the wear on the rims as well.

I will say, that if you go hydraulic, make sure you get a GOOD hydraulic brake. Right now I would say an Avid juicy 5 or something would be an awesome choice. If you dont have the extra cash to go with a GOOD hydarulic, then go with a GOOD mechanical disc brake. I know I personally think the Hayes soles feel like crap and dont stop as good as your normal hydraulic brakes but I have rode a really nice set of Avid mechanicals and they work awesome

I went mountain biking on a SORBA ride this past Saturday.

One of the distributors brought out some bikes.

20 Storck road bikes and a bunch of Storck full suspension mountain bikes.

I logged 15 miles on my 29'er, jumped on the $5,000 Storck full suspension, put 5 miles on it, then jumped on the Storck road bike...which tipped the scales at a scant 13lbs. Cost? $12,000.

I had to see what it felt like to ride a $12,000 13lb bike.

I have to give props to stang on this one, I couldnt have thought of a better reply myself

as for the muscle, I think you need to chill my friend... if you are gonna base a decision on weather or not to buy a persons product because they dont like something you like thats not going to get you very far... I am sure there are a lot of other people who dont all share the same interest as you...

with that said, Im in bike industry, worked in a shop for a couple of years and work for a popular company now for 2 + years... with that said, was it road bikes you raced? I am just curious...

I like bikes, bikes are cool. But I still don't trust carbon fiber.

all right, you can't deny the thrill of throwing your self down a mountian as fast as possible, while dodging trees, giant rock gardens, huge jumps massive drops, all to try and beat the time of the next guy, its such a thrill.

then again, its a thrill to be able to build a car pushing a shit load of hp/torque no denying that, i love cars as much as bikes, bikes just happen to be cheaper and more in my range right now

as for the cannondale, your lookin at a ton of money for one of those bad boys, don't know the specs for the 08s but probly some where around the 6k range
