Default Local car setups.. Wheel weight

Hey guys.. Got me a Venom for 2.2 and I'm trying to figure out how to set it up..

So far it's got:
Novak rooster crawler ESC
Novak 45t motor with a 16t pinon.
Home made CKRC Stage 2 setup
Hobico CS-170 333oz front servo
CC BEC running the servo

Chisels on Venom wheels
15oz per front wheel.. (Venom internal heavy wheel weights)
3oz per wheel rears (stick on weights)

So my question is this..

How much weight are you guys running in the wheels around here..

I run an AX10 and I was runnin 10oz per front and 2oz in the rear but it all depends on your setup and driving style.

That's what Wolfman is running on his Creeper, seems to work pretty good.

We put his dig on the other night, looks like a pretty nice unit. Glad to see you got your 2.2 going JKWrangler.

Thanks guys!! I like the numbers...

Holding off the dig for bit.. I've got the front diff lock working by custom mounting a servo on the front axle.. Works pretty good.. We'll see how it works on the course..

I figure I won't move up from the novice class for a bit, so no need to put that cash into the dig yet..

I did have it out on the HTW course last Wednesday in stock form (except for the chisels) and I was pretty impressed.. I couldn't get it through the center course tunnel as it was too tall . With the CKRC stage 2 it's dropped it a bunch. Now I just need to limit the shocks to cut down on the articulation.. I think it's way too much right now..

Should be fun for this weekend though!!

I hear that the chisels and the venom wheels don't work that well together, something about the bead slipping on them. I have heard that rovers work well with their beadlocks though. I guess I'll get to check it out this weekend and see how it does though.

So the only time I've gotten to run the creeper was last Wednesday. I was up at HTW for the day with both my trucks.. I was running the Chisels that day on the creeper and didn't have any issues with them at all.. Had them in some pretty bad bind ups and they didn't slip on the wheels or pull out.. The Creeper was in stock form then with 15oz of weight in each front wheel and none in the back.

Having said that, I ordered a set of Rovers last week and mounted them up on Proline Wheels.. I really wanted the Rovers to begin with but HTW was out of them and didn't know if they'd get anymore at the sale price.. I had a couple of gift cards burnin a hole in my pocket so I bought the Chisles.. Got the Rovers from CKRC for $10 a set.. Couldn't pass that up..

I've never tried chisels on venoms, but I think you'll like the rovers better anyway.

Have you seen what the chisels look like on a JK body?

I run a LCC with @ 5oz. up front and 0 in the rear with stock plastic rims and mine works great. Rubba runs like 7 oz. up front and 3 in the rear I believe and his rig flat out rocks! I am a firm believer in the notion that a lighter rig with a proper forward weight bais will crawl better than a heavier rig will. Try a lighter weight set-up and get some practice time in before the comp. If you dont find that its any better then go back to your old set-up. That's my honest opinion.

Thanks all..

The setup I'm going to try and run this weekend is 7.5oz front / 3oz rear. I took half of the venom wheels weights out of the front. This will be with Chisels.

I mounted some Rovers up on Proline Titus wheels and weighted those for 8oz front and 4 oz rear. But the Proline's don't have enough offset to clear venom big ass knuckles.. I might see if I can pick up some wider hexes to clear the wheels.. Not sure if I want to get much wider though..

We'll see.. I should be able to get out tomorrow and see how it does.

I'll keep that in mind.. My son is bring over a set of wide hexes tomorrow for the comp.. I'm going to see if they work and that they aren't too wide.. If they don't work out, we can check to see if your wheels have enough offset to clear, if they do, I'll trade you out.. I really like the Prolines and I've already put weights int them..

I drive a 08 Jeep Wrangler Red with a Black Hardtop and I usually setup in the back end. I should be there by 8:15 or so.. Come look me up..
