Default Search function help

Is there a way to use the search function and have it look for only a phrase, and not any word in the phrase. It would make searching for relevant info so much easier. Thanks for your help.

Try putting it in parentheses.

"your phrase here"

Otherwise I am of no help.

What is an example of a search you want to perform?

What your asking for is possible with a boolean search, however that is only enabled for star members.

Lets say I want to see any comments about " A Main Hobbies " I get every post that someone put " a " in or " main " in or " hobbies " in. You can see it would make it a long search, and not very productive.

I did some reading on the star member thing but didn't remember reading anything specific about a better search function.

I do like this forum. I think it has a lot to offer. And a bunch of great people on it, in it. Maybe after I finish my first rig I'll get me a star. Thanks for your help! I thought I was missing something with the search function. Wouldn't be the first time I missed something LOL. Thanks again for your help badger!

Searches will not search for "a" because it is under the three character minimum.

This boolean search is a little better then a "a main hobbies" standard search.

Hobbies AND (a-main OR "a main")

I just did a search on this forum for - A Main Hobbies -.
I got - Showing results 1 to 25 of 255.
And this thread was the first at the top of that list.
And the letter - a - was the first thing highlighted and finally - A Main Hobbies.
The second thread had - a - highlighted all over the thread.
Some threads had - main - highlighted and others - hobbies -.
When I do a search for - a - all by itself, you are correct. It has no matches.

I would rather get 0 or 3 or 5 matches for my search, than 255 that have nothing to do with what I am looking for.

I am not trying to be difficult, Please forgive me!
I am just trying to figure out If I am missing something.
Throw in the fact that I am not very good at explaining and we now have this thread. LOL
Thanks a bunch for your patience with me, and your help!
I think its time for a couple of these to be directed my way so please post them as needed.LOL
Thanks!

I read the options for a star member and see the advanced search that comes with being a star member. Just like you said. Thanks for all your help.

Just to clarify, (parentheses) or "quotations"?

I just performed the same search as you (even copied and pasted the words in your search), but I put quotations around the entire phrase and it returned the following results:
http://www.rccrawler.com/forum/searc...searchid=82604

Only 30 threads and should only include threads that have that Exact phrase in them...
