| 1st 2011 German Nationals Qualifier (AKA Renoirbud's trip to Germany)
I am at the Airport in Charlotte, NC. I will get on a plane at 4:20 Eastern time to fly 9 hours, then drive two hours and if everything goes perfect, I will only 20 min late for Tech check. Crawling in Germany has taken off and I want to go check it out. The German Championship series is 3 events and a Nationals. The filed at the first event is going to be aproximately 40 2.2s. They also have 1.9 and Super, but I am only bringing a 2.2. The top 10 of each qualifying event get a spot for 2011 Nats, and there will also be a LCQ. I have my T1E Moonbuggy, powerred by Holmes, steering by RCInnovations and held together with RC4wd Ti screws ready. (I am still using Berg axles, I have not had a chance to get the sweet Vanquish updates for my XR10 yet) Wish me luck. Hopefully I learn their rules quick enoughand learn how to drive Metric. http://www.scalecrawler.de/index.php...&threadID=4475 PS There will be coffee and cake. The comp was yesterday (Sunday). I arrived at 7 AM German time and it was 5 degrees C and raining in Frankfurt. By the time I got to the comp site (130 miles away) it was in the low 50 f and sunny. The comp site was a big pile of large stones (1000lbs +) that were broken out of the quarry nearby. In the 2.2 Pro class there were 32 drivers, many XR10, some bergs, some Bully's and a couple AX10s. There were German and Swiss drivers (and myself). The Courses were extremely unforgiving, lots of large holes and drops that you could not get back onto the course from. The rules are close to the same to what we use in the US. Thank you to T1E, RC4wd, RCInnovations, Vanquish Products and Holmes Hobbies for supplying the equipment that allowed me to win this event. Congrats Rene! It´s been a pleasure meeting you and watching you drive your truck. Hopefully you can make it to our nats next year. Having guys like you over always inspires the drivers and manufacturers over here to take the sport more serious. I really hope to make it to some US-comp sometime. There´s a lot to learn and improve... Uli |
