Team L.E.R.K. presents Club VS. Club 1.9 Scaler Challenge info

Team L.E.R.K. Presents
Club VS. Club
1.9 Scaler Challenge

This comp will be a 1.9 scaler challenge that will push or rigs and driving skills to the limits against other club teams. The format we will use is just like any other Team L.E.R.K. event 4-6 courses with each course having 10-30 gates that have a set time limit and are scored (see course points and penalties below). Some of the obstacles and challenges that you will experience are bonus courses, bonus lines, two-lap course, bridges, Tonka Tug, spare tire changes, hill climbs, reverse driving, and some really CHALLENGING lines were you may need to use your winch, ohh and we cant forget about the wet stuff!

So the way it will work is your club team has to have a captain, you can have as many guys on your team as you want but a minimum of three is mandatory. The three members from each team with the best total scores for the day will be added up and the lowest total score will win the Club VS Club competition. A trophy and most importantly bragging rights for the next year will be given to the club team with the lowest score. Fore those of you that are not part of a club this would be a great time to meet some of the guys from your area and maybe even join their club at this event. In the case you want to just run as an individual there will be 1st,2nd, and 3rd place individual awards as well. You can use your score in both competitions as well, so you can use your score for the team award and win an individual award.

This type of event will consist of some major duties especially the end of the day scoring. So it would be great if each club would pinch in with some help. WE CAN ALLWAYS USE JUDGES. On some of the longer courses we would like to have two scoring judges to keep the flow moving. I would also like a club or two to come up with some course ideas. If your club has a cool bridge or idea you use at your comps please feel free to bring it out and we will see if we can utilize it.

Please use this thread for info and questions a sign up thread will be posted soon. This will give some time to the guys that need to find a local club or team to rep if they don't all ready have one.

We highly recommend that your rig is waterproofed and you have a functioning winch.

The Mandatory Stuff:
• 1.9 tires only (no cut and shuts)
• 5 scale items
• Working spare tire
• Tow Strap
• No comp chassis
• Rig must appear scale and something you would see on the trail
• Any recovery tools must be mounted to rig when not in use

* No Dig or Rear Stear

*If you have any questions please feel free to ask

Re: Team L.E.R.K. presents Club VS. Club 1.9 Scaler Challenge info

We want to make this a fun annual scale event in Cali. So with the help of all teams and clubs I believe we can achieve that. I also believe with the help of some sponsors it would raise the interest in this event even more. With that being said we are looking for sponsors for this event to help establish this annual scale comp and in time draw other clubs from out of the area or state. If you would like to donate please pm me to work out the details. No donation is to small and all donations would be greatly appreciated .

Some Donation Ideas:
  • Event Trophies
  • Event Sponsor
  • Give away Items
  • Vendor Products
  • Banners
  • Boundry Markers and Gates
  • Stickers
  • Promo Products from Vendors
  • Gift Certificates
  • Hobby Shop Promos

Nice, not sure what I can do with the local hobby shops as we have been talking to them about our series. I know for sure we can donate some gift certs for entry in the rcotc comps if you want? The only thing up here is they all prefer the G6 format so I'm hoping to convince them to give this a try ;-)

Thanks Martin, as far as the G6 format goes they are great! But there will only be one G6 and i cant take that away from Parker or even come close to his course knowledge and set up so i'll leave that up to him. Just let the guys know that this event may challenge there rig in a whole different way. Ohh and remind them that they are toy trucks and we just want to have fun!

Everyone will have there format preference in this hobby, and thats the reason why i like the scalers so much. One weekend i can take it to a G6 the next to a RCOTC event and the next weekend one of our scaler events. The reverse penalty will really make you think about your driving and the lines you take the first time. I have seen major events lost by a couple of reverses. You can always trail run with your boys and not get penalized for the reverses any given day, but its not everyday that you may "compete" against some of the other club members and there nationally ranked drivers.

Really hope to see you there!"thumbsup"

Well said finishline, although the scale part of the hobby is a bit more relaxed having some limits on reverses and equipment will help a driver to be a better one. Miss running your series, you guys do a great job.

Watch this video and at around 2:50 ask yourself can a 1:1 rig really right itself without a winch while laying on its side like we do with or RC rigs. Well this Guy thinks so

Why do you say that? My rig probably has everything yours does in it and is built from the same chassis and set up as your hancho. There is not one thing on my rig that would hold you back from running a G6 so why would you think our rigs are that much better for this format? I actually like the rigs is see at the G6 events. I wish I had the time to put into my rig like some of the G6 guys do. You guys are hardcore. I have seen you drive and I don't think you will have any issues at all. Can wait to see you out there.

Excuse my noobness to the whole comp thing, a winch is required, but then why are you penalized when using it?

Lookin forward to this event, hopefully AREA 916 Rc Scalers will represent :)

Your noobiness is excused:mrgreen: A winch is not required but highly recommended. A case were you do noy get penalized for winching is in a bonus winch course were you will have to use it to get through a series of gates in a set time to receive the bonus points or you can use it on course in an area were you are having a hard time getting through a gate or over an obstacle were you will be penalized for use. Progression through gates is key! Our course designer and Team Captain JRock makes the courses just hard enough to push your rigs capabilities. 9 times out of 10 i personally do not need to use my winch on course i usually work it out some how. But in the case i cant work it out i allways have my winch to fall back on and progress through the course.

I think there is a lot of misconception with the format we are running especially to the newer guys in the "Scaler" side of the hobby. Our events were scaled after real 1:1 competitions. Review some of these rules and see that they are pretty similar to the format that we are running.

If our events were 1:1 comps this is what they would be like.

Just so everyone new knows we have always run our comps with reverse penalties and have been doing this since I started Team LERK. These events were going before any G6 was ever thought of and we'll always do this the way 1.1 comping really is.

I know a lot of guy's have only run G6 events and I can see how being charged for a reverse is like what the hell, But like finishline said it's a different format to push rigs to there limit and there is no difference in the way our rigs compare to most rigs that run the G6's.

This is going to open a whole new chapter of crawlin and I hope to see everyone come out for this and other Team LERK event's,

Hey Jason, I think a lot of the Sac guys are NON comp guys and with scalers just don't understand the penalties associated with "scalers". I have a problem with the winch penalty myself but you know what. When we come to your house we play by your rules when you come to our house you play by ours :lmao:

Hey Martin whats upper, I want all this feedback because it helps us work things out so we can try to work with people or explain the format a little better for people in this hobby"thumbsup".

I want more then anything to have as many guy's come out to this event and season events also but don't want guy's not coming because of reverses:shock: These events are a blast and anyone who has ever come to one of our events had a great time with no complaints so with that said I hope to see you guy's come out and represent your club"thumbsup"

The winch penalties are only if you can't make it up something or lets say your stuck and instead of taking a reposition +10 points you can winch yourself out for only +5 points. It's not going to be mandatory being we won't make a course were we know no one well be able to crawl it so they have to winch no matter what. It's more for if you get in a situation it's your choice to use the winch or try to work it out. Also we have a course that is going to be a winch course and you don't get charged for winching on this course because your only trying to get through the course on the time allowed.

Yes when I come to your neck of the woods I am more then happy to follow your rules with no problems and it should be the same with our events. If these guy's came to one of our events I know they would have a great time just like you have had great times at our events.
