I've noticed on a lot of crawlers that the shocks are mounted vertically or close to it, rather that at an angle like on the CC's. Wouldn't vertically mounting them lead to binding? Advantages/disadvantages to both? Also, is there any drop in performance mounting the shocks to the links rather than the axle when you have extra long links? Thanks! |

The more verticle the mounting, the stiffer the suspension(as long as its not mounted too close to the pivot point of the suspension). If the shock lays down, it becomes very soft and less effective at its job(if mounted as far out on the pivot axis as possible)

One advantage of more vertical is the weight of the vehicle is pushing down on the axle.
