| CC questions...
Hey guys. I guess i would be considered a newbie to any real crawling. I had a t-maxx with an e-maxx transmission, high turn motor, and soft suspension i used to play with some, but never did anything drastic with it. I was looking at the CC on tower hobbies and couldnt believe you can buy a roller for $59 Seems like a heck of a deal, even if it does have a few weaknesses. Some questions. Does a standard 6 cell flat pack for 1/10 vehicles work besides the connector being different? Im assuming i could run a regular ESC and just wire it myself to run 2 motors? I have a duratrax 16t reversible ESC here i could use. In this case, i wouldnt have to change the battery connector either if a standard 6 cell fits. Also, I think standard size servos fit, but im not 100% sure. If so, I have a traxxas 2055 that would work fine for steering duty. I would probably lock out the rear steer. I also have a spare receiver. Also, this isnt directly related to the CC, but what is clod stall? Im thinking its where you get in a bind and the front end pulls, but not the rear end? Can this be fixed with lower gearing, or a gear redcution unit for cheap, since it seems the CC has a problem with this stock. Id like it really low geared. Basically i have everything needed to run one if im correct in my assumptions above, other than the CC itself. I may end up buying one next time tower send me a $20 off a $60 order coupon. For $40 i dont know if i could pass it up! Sorry if most of these have been covered, i just figured someone might be bored and want to answer these simple questions. Thanks! Eric |

I had the same idea you did, but a regular pack made out of sub-C cells will be too big for the stock chassis. Even if you made it fit, it would add a lot of weight to the chassis, and you don't need such high capacity for a crawler like this. I ended up making a pack out of some NiMH AAs I had here, and so far it's working out alright. If you don't want to make a battery pack you could try a pack for one of the 'mini' trucks, and you can get adapters to match a standard ESC/charger, or make your own. I was wondering about 'Clod stall' too, I'd never seen the term before this CC forum. I do believe it is when the rear bogs down but the fronts are still spinning. There are a couple ways to fix this on here, from different motors to suspension mods. Standard servos fit fine; I have a Futaba S3003 in mine and it's fine. Something a hair smaller would be better, but this works OK. |

Thanks guys! Im not in a real big hurry for anything, but it kind of caught my interest for $60. I was also thinking of just building my own with clod axles. I actually have a frame i made a good while back and i could make the links and things. It'll probably be a while before i look into anything if i even do, but it sure looks like the CC is a heck of a deal, we will see, I may end up with one yet |
