| HS-5645MG problem
Well, at our last GTG we were trying this almost impossible line, falling off every time and I managed to land on the wheel and strip out the center brass gear on the 5645. I ordered the replacement gear set and replaced the stripped gear. Went out again today for another GTG and everything seemed to work ok for a little while then it seems I lost power on the servo, everything I tried didn't help the problem, and after messing with it for a while I noticed the casing was pretty warm, not warm enough not to touch but noticeably warmer than it's ever ran before. It will hardly turn the wheels sitting on smooth concrete now. Any ideas on what's going on? Rooster Crawler Edition 45t Integy TQ2 rx/tx generic batteries |

Here's my opinion on Hitec servos... That's just me, that's why I run TowerPro only now. |

You may have either bent the motor shaft or possibly bent another shaft somewhere in the geartrain in the servo. Sorry man.

Possibly you have fragments from the stripped gears in there causing it to work harder? Try cleaning it real good and then regreasing?

My hitec 5645 and 5955 got frickin hot with the rooster crawler. So hot you couldnt hold your finger on it for more than a second. Put my MM in with a castle BEC and no superheating or loss of power. Go figure? I sold the rooster crawler but am gonna buy another in December to give it another shot. Good luck, I know I didnt help you any but just wanted you to know I had the same problem. |

I ran 5645's all season and had serious issues with the gears stripping out. I put them in my super when I built it to keep my costs down a bit, but have found that its worth dropping the extra cabbage for some nice high torque servos. Seems to be high praise for the Tower Hobbies high torques, and the Hobbico CS-170's are identical to Hi Tec 5955TG's Check out JR's new 9100T also.

the 5645MGs work well in a 2.2, but they aren't bombproof. I stick to the robot servos and haven't had an issue at all since.

i have a hitec 645 mg, running with a rooster crawler and i want more power, i feel the steering very weak. i have in mind to buy a hitec 5955 but im not shure because i had readed about a lot of heat issues... i have a 2.2 rig... please tell me what do you think about the hitec 5955? what kind of servo to buy , why and where? every one talk about tower pro... wich one is the srongest that fit the place of a 645mg??? Thanks a lot, i will wait a little on buying the hitec 5955 servo, first i want to know what the experts think. |

The 645mg is about the same as the tower pro in strength, and the tower pro is more inefficient. I run my 5955's in 2.2 rigs with no heat issues, but you have to make sure the steering doesn't bind and your epa's are set. If you want more power, the 5955 is the best bet and a dang good servo. I carry them because they are a great product.

Post count doesn't always mean smarts, but I do a good bit of electronics testing and such on a daily basis. If your current servo doesnt bind, then you should have no problems with the 5955 either. Just drop it in. |

Eerrrrrr, I have never been able to do that conversion proper. It is a lot, probably 20kg/cm or so.
