| Question for those running the novak fifty-five
I just grabbed one and when testing outside the truck or in it, it makes kinda of a grinding/different sound when going one direction compared to the other....didn't konw if this was a prob or not. The only other motor I have to compare to is a standard integy 45t, which doesn't have the same disparity. Thoughts?

Could be the brushes. Do you have any timing advance? The brush hood might not be in alignment.

Ya mines did the same thing. it has a grinding\sound in reverse. the motor is 2 days old , so i dropped some trinty royal oil on each end of the motor the sound kinda went away but its still there. Very odd Let me kno if theres a solution |

I would have to personally inspect the motor to know what is going on, but my guess is that the brushes are not hitting the comm square. One direction has a hard angle that is causing noise.

The first thing I did was put my novak 55 on a motor run in, then disassemabled it, thoughly clean it, oil the bearing and put it back together. It runs smooth as glass. The endbell is fixed. |

Yeah, I did the same thing as ANDYFEE. Opened the package, affixed the pinion and slapped it in my ax10. What is the best way to run in my motor? I don't have a truing or break-in station. And I'm not one for maintenance, so what do I look for at the brush/com contact point?

Mine makes different noises in both directions, so does my buddies. I couldnt care less, i just bolt motors in and run them. The motor is still really smooth, definitely better than a integy, big suprise |

Just pull the brushes and see if one side is thinner or has a sharper point than the other. | |

So, what do you do with the brush that has the anomaly? Technically, shouldn't it kinda "wear-in"
