| I'm back! thoughts on Hitec....
I had a WK that i made into a crawler (first attempt @ crawler) but unfortunately I had to sell it when I needed $. But I'm back know! I just ordered a Axial scorpion ARTR along with some goodies... I am wondering everyones opinion on the 3ch Aggressor CRX radio? I have a 2ch Aggressor for my 'pede, I like it & have always been happy w/ Hitec stuff. I even have a 5645MG servo on the 'pede. I'm going to use one on the AX10 too, they have been good to me. I really don't want to drop a ton of coin on a 2.4 radio..... |

save some money and get a better radio. either the dx3r or a 4pk or even the 3pk, it will be alot better in the long run, just hold off till u get enough money saved up.

I used to have a HiTec Aggressor CRX radio. It was nice. Easy to use, easy to set-up, and easy to navigate the menus. It's computerized, but not not nearly as programmable as some of the higher end radios, but it does offer channel mixing so you can set a master and slave channel, and choose the mixing rate. It would let you have 4 wheel steering, or dual speed controllers, but you can't control them independtly of each other, nor turn the mix off or on. You could asign the third channel to a linear, adjustable dial, but finding center is a little tricky. I sold my Aggressor CRX for a Futaba 3PK. In the few years I used the Aggressor, I never had a single complaint. It's nice budget radio, but HiTec should offer it in the spread spectrum frequency in order to keep with the times. If you don't mind that it's not a 2.4 giga-hertz radio, pick one up. Or, like the others said, save a little while and grab yourself a little higher end radio, or at least a spread spectrum version.

+1 on the 2.4ghz. The days of colored flags and am/fm radios are going away... I do not miss hunting down the bastard that is messing up my run with the same freq... It's soooo nice not to worry about that any more. controller is much more consistant as well. I have had the spektrum dx3.0 and dx3r and they work great! The layout on the DX3R is a bit funky, but you get used to it... Everyone I know that has a futaba radio, really likes them as well. |

I've had the older version of the one you're talking about for years, still use them. I'm pretty sure it has the same or very similar guts. I'm sure there are other systems with more bells and whistles, but it's been trouble free for many years now. I may even replace it with the newer Agressor, but thats just me . But yes, crystals DO suck! T.D. |
