Default Bec Wiring

So i know this is a stupid Q but i cant figure out how to wire the servo side of the bec, do i use the + and - of the bec and just the signal wire of the servo ? i have my own little servo plus that go into the reciever so i wanted to wire it directly in.

is that right ?

If you want the BEC to run a single servo only, then you connect the positive output wire of the BEC to the positive wire of the servo, and the negitive output wire of the BEC to the negitive wire of the servo. The signal wire (white or yellow, depending on brand) needs to go to the receiver, like usual.

I don't understand why people want to wire just one servo directly to an external BEC. In my opinion, if you are buying an external BEC, wire it so it runs all the electronics through the receiver. It's easier to do it that way, and you also don't have to worry about grounding the BEC to the receiver (because it already is), as it is suggested a lot of times.

They wire it that way due to some rx dont like the sudden amp draw the high power servos pull.....spectrum being one of them...

Yup. I spent a good hour with my buddy Wednesday night trying different wiring configurations to figure out why we were getting a bunch of glitching and lack of control on his 2.2

Tekin FX-R, JR9100T for steering, a 650 for dig and a CC BEC...Spektrum SR3000 Rx was cutting out on throttle, the little green LED went night night every time.

We plugged in to a crappy Associated XP2 of all things ...problem solved.

While we're on the subject, would the Spektrum Rx voltage CAP help that issue?

And should I not bother installing a Castle BEC on my 2.2 this season? Seems like it's not worth it. I'm running a Tekin FX-R, Hi Tec 7955TG with no dig and an Integy V11 45 with a DX3R and the 3500 mirco Rx.

Oh, well I don't run the inferior Spektrum radio gear, so perhaps that's why I've never seen a reason to do things different.

Running the DX3R, I would just run the positive and negative wires straight to the servo. Then run the signal wire from the servo to the receiver. You can do this without cutting your servo wires. Pull the signal wire out of the servo plug. If you have a spare servo Y harness, get it out. If not, get one like this.....

Pull the male end off of the new harness. Plug the signal wire into the new male plug (make sure its the right slot) and plug it into the receiver. Then cut both of the Female ends off and wire them together so that you have a dual female extension. Then plug the bec into one and the other male from the servo into the other.
