Question 945mg popping and clicking w/out servo saver.

I ditched the servo savers on my steering servos today. I took it out for a test run and it worked great. But, now when weight of truck is on rear axle and I try to steer it starts making these popping and clicking sounds. :? I pick it up and it steers fine, I thought I stripped the gears. Anyone else heard theirs making this noise?

what kind of servo arm did you put on? If it was plastic, the arm is probably stripped,If not it sounds like its internal.

Yea, the arm might be stripping or you might be skipping teeth on the internal gears.

Either way it sounds like something is going to go south on ya.

Arm is plastic, I just checked it, doesn't appear to be stripped. I never "lost center". I'm assuming it would have, if I stripped splines/internal gears, but everyone knows where that gets ya. ;)

I'll put savers back on just to see if it still does it. I didn't even have any major roll overs, of course roctapus hardly ever rolls over.

Thumbs up

Well, I just put savers back on both servos. I ran it up the back of my couch and steered rear back and forth. NO NOISE!! As much as I liked it w/out them, savers are staying. That popping sound made me cringe.

It sounds to me like the plastic servo horns are not the correct ones for your brand of servo. They can fit very tightly and not apear to be stripped but under load they skip over the output shaft making the noises you heard.

I would buy some aluminum servo horns that are for your brand of servo, and get ride of the saver. You will be able to steer sooo much better.

I think the only reason you "clod guys" do not like "the shaft" is because there is not enough alcohol involved!

Ok, I opened it up and all the gears are intacted. :? The "zzzzzzz" noise sounds like the motor struggling to move tires. I can easily stall the servo out in my hand. Also w/ everything turned on I can twist servo horn it doesn't hold center at all. I just bought both of them about a month ago.

Default Bought another 945mg.....

.....it's not digital, but that's all they had. I'm going to send the toasted one back to Hitec, and when I get it back I'll be swapping the digital one back in. For anyone debating digital or not, as far as Hitec servos go, the extra $12 or so is worth it. New one seems way weaker than the digital one.
