Default 11.1, 27t motor, 18t pinion... bad idea?

I am getting tremendous wheelspeed with this combo in my ax10 based racer.

Is this a good setup that will last? I'm running the stock axial rtr motor.

the battery is a 11.1v 10c 1250

thats a large amount of amps to be pulling from that pack. that pack is only able to supply 12.5 amps continuous, id bet a 27 turn in a crawler will run at almost double what that pack can supply. i myself would run something much bigger, such as an 1800 30c or more.

Thanks for the reply sharkey.

I have a novak 55t on hand. I suppose that would suit the life of my pack better?

The 55t would be allot better for that small pack.

I ran a puller in my Axial with 18/81 gearing, which probably pulls even more than your 27t stock can. I always ran a PolyRc 25c 3 cell lipo from Holmes. Worked extremely well and never had the first issue with the battery.

Thanks Reflection!

Is there a chart or way to calculate if your batteries C rating isn't enough for your motor? Originally I have been running a 7.4 2000mAh 20c on the 27t motor w/18t pinion.

The batteries I run were recommended, and they work perfect. Personally,I'd rather buy a battery that will handle more than I need. That way I can run anything I want. Buying 10-15c lipos IMHO,is a waste for main packs in any car. It really limits your choices. If you decide to go with a hotter motor, you gotta buy another battery. But,the smaller lipo's do have their place. I run one in my DX3

You might browse through the stickies in this section. I know there's enough info on batteries and motors in them to make your eyes bleed if you weanna read it all.
