Default Winch with DX3.0?

Does anyone know if this will work or not?

If you have a 2pos 3 channel radio with servo reverse, why can't you use this feature to accomplish the task of a full functioning winch?

For example with a DX3.0:

Set the 3rd channel to "2 position".
Position 1 will be neutral or "winch off"
Position 2 will be "winch out"

Leave the servo reverse screen active on the DX3.0

Now to use the winch you use position 2 for winch out.
When you have enough cable out go back to position 1 to stop winch.
Hit servo reverse and since it is at position 1 "winch off" it wil not do anything.
Now when you hit the button it is reversed and will retract the winch cable.

I am not sure if this would work or not because I do not have a winch yet.
Just a thought from a new guy in the hobby.
Maybe a member with more experience could tell me if this would work or not?

I plan to bu a DX3R next year but I was thinking if this worked it will get me by until then.

Thank you.

JTank70,

It'll work exactly as you described it would. I have a dx3.0 as well and that is how I have my winch hooked up on my scaler. Just use the 2p mode and set the epa on one of the position to zero and the other to full and you'll be set.

Mint!

I am stoked now. I know it will work with a servo because I tried it.

I was unsure about the winch because I was not sure if it operated somehow differently than a servo and I don't have one yet to try.

The wife pre-ordered that new axial Honcho rig for me for christmas and I wasn't sure wether or not to get a winch for it. Now I know.

Thanks a bunch!
