| Hitec 645MG for a Losi Night Crawler?
I just received my Losi Night Crawler this week. I installed some HB Rovers (white) and would like to upgrade the stock steering servo... I don't think I can afford a $100+ servo right now, but would like something a little stronger than the stock unit... Would the Hitec 645MG work for now? Thanks, Troy |

It will work fine for now but you will want to upgrade to a 7955 or 7950 in the future.

To be honest, I don't think a 645 will give you any noticable differance in steering performance over the stock servo. It just dosn't have the torque to turn a big set of squishy Rovers. I woud just run the stock servo and put your $30 bucks twards a 7950 or 7955.

Stock LNC servo's are like 85 in-lb, the 5645 is a pretty decent upgrade. Twice the power, still not a great servo but much better. I have my buddy's sons LNC here working on it, it has a 5645 and rovers and turns pretty decent.

I just got a night crawler 2 weeks ago and found the stock steering servo to be almost a joke and got very frustrated the whole time i was trying to wheel. The next day i went to my local hobby shop and bought the 5645mg only because i was short on cash, I notice a huge difference the first time out wheeling with the new servo as i was actually able to steer where i wanted to go. This servo is a decent upgrade but i do feel i want to do a more powerful servo in the near future when my funds permit |

I've got the 5645 in my Comp Crawler, it seems barely adequate for that truck. I'm with everybody else, save your money for a better servo instead of on that one and then another one.

i used to run a 645 in the front of my axial. the thing did just fine, not the greatest servo but got the job done without issue. if your bashing, itll do just fine. the only reason i upgraded (went to a hitec 985) was because i needed a 645 for the front brakes on my 1/5 scale, so i decided why not try something a little better. im quite happy with the 985 so far, its 176oz/in and fairly quick. im using a castle bec at 6.5 volts (put the servo right around 200oz/in), works great

I guess I'll wait to get something better... Also, I thought the LNC had a built-in BEC? No?

Pretty much all esc's have built in BEC's, but they don't put out enough juice for crawlers. A crawler servo is stressed many times more than one in a buggy or road car. Ours needs good constant voltage to work consistantly. | |

I speak from m own efforts to save money, DONT waste your money on a 565 HT I would just save your money for a HT 7955 I have to and for $120 its a steal with 330 oz of torque. I would put your money away and save for the big dog. hehehe |

I have a LCC with the HS-7950TH which does 403oz at 6v and 486oz at 7.4v and it is impressive. That said my son and a buddy have LNC's with 645mg servos and they work well. Obviously it is not the same but in most instances it will turn the tires. I don't see the point in spending 130 dollars on a servo for a 270 dollar truck. If you are going to spend that kind of money sell the LNC and buy an LCC. My point is functionally the 645 works. While the LNC is an amazing truck if you are going to start building a comp worthy truck it is cheaper to get the LCC now rather than upgrade piece by piece. |
