Default couple of DX3e questions

Just purchased one yesterday for my Losi and have a question.

When i bind it i have all the setting set like they came in the box, which happens to be maxed out. The problem is that i cannot get the throttle to trim completely off. Everything else seems to be great except the throttle. With the throttle trim all the way to the lowest setting i still am getting slight forward throttle. It's kind of like the trigger is off just a little because if i slightly tap the throttle it will stop and then start again. If you look at the ESC the red light is one when there is no signal being sent, so as i sit still the red light should be on, it's not, which indicates it's being told to go forward. If i push the trigger in reverse ever so slightly it will turn red and then start back. So i tried to rebind it and this time i started with the throttle trim at the lowest point. Still didn't make a difference.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like you need to calibrate the esc to the radio
Here is the instructions from the losi site;
One Touch Endpoint Setup
NOTE: Please be sure to set all throttle trim settings to neutral
before performing an endpoint setup.
A. Hold button and turn on ESC until the Red/Green light
comes on. Once on, release button.
B. Pull trigger to full throttle position until the green light goes
from flashing to solid. Once solid, your forward endpoint is
now set.
C. To set reverse endpoint, push the trigger into the full
reverse position until the flashing red light turns solid. At this
point your reverse/brake endpoint is now set.
D. Return trigger to neutral setting. The green light will now
be solid and you are ready to go!
Hope this helps

Thanks for the quick response!!

I will double check to see if that will work on my Goat 3s; but i think you are right cause when i first set the ESC up it does say to go full throttle one way and full throttle the other.....

This is the novak instructions

With ESC connected to (at least) a receiver & a charged battery pack:
1. TURN ON THE TRANSMITTER’S POWER
2. PRESS & HOLD ESC’S ONE-TOUCH/SET BUTTON
3. TURN ON THE SPEED CONTROL’S POWER
With transmitter throttle at neutral, and still pressing the SET button, slide the ESC’s ON/OFF switch to ON position.
4. CONTINUE HOLDING SET BUTTON UNTIL RED LED COMES ON
5. RELEASE SET BUTTON AS SOON AS LED TURNS RED
6. PULL TRANSMITTER THROTTLE TO FULL-ON POSITION
Hold it there until the green status LED turns solid green.
Note: Motor will not run during programming even if connected.
7. PUSH TRANSMITTER THROTTLE TO FULL-BRAKE/REVERSE
Hold it there until the green status LED blinks green.
8. RETURN TRANSMITTER THROTTLE TO NEUTRAL
Red status LED
will turn solid red, indicating that speed control is at neutral and that proper programming has been completed.

OK, i did calibrate the ESC to the radio. Was perfect, but, after about 15 minutes it started to glitch-out on me in reverse at full throttle. THen it got less reverse throttle would cause it to glitch-out. THen it would get a little glitchy moving forward.

Any clue?

any idea why it's glitching really bad in reverse and just a slight glitch forward?

alot of times it is just electronics placement, would say may need some capasitors on the motor but I belive you are running a brushless motor right?
A steering servo going bad has led to a glitch also not always the case but has been know to happen.

Thanks for the reply.

Yea, i'm running a ballistic brushless 18.5 with the Goat 3s. Just purchased and installed at the same time as getting the new DX3e, a new steering servo... 7950TH.

The receiver is sitting over the dig, and the ESC is sitting behind the trans.

FOLLOW UP: Turns out that the glitching was being caused by the BEC's orange on/off switch. The small black wire was pulling out and the red wire was starting to pull out.

Once i corrected that, it ran great.

No problem. I think it's important to have a follow up, since most only post with issues and not fixes. Don't want people to think it was Novak's problem or something else.

actually i do have one more question:

I did not see it in the instruction manual but a friend has the same radio and told me rechargeable batteries will not work in it. So i tried some charged, rechargeable batteries and the radio would not turn on. So then i put regular batteries in and it worked.

What's up with that?
