Default Can I run LiPo and NiMh batteries

I am wanting to know if I can run either LiPo batteries or NiMh batteries on my rig if I switch out all batteries to deans plugs?

I guess my real question is, I have an FXR ESC. If I change the voltage cut off to work with the LiPo to cut it off at the appropriate voltage(can someone tell me what that voltage is that I should cut it at too) can I still run my NiMh batteries, or will I need to change modes back on the ESC?

I have 3 NiMh batteries and one is still brand new and the other two have only had one charge on them, so I would hate to get rid of them.

Thanks

The right mode will get the most power and run time out of which battery you are using. The right setting will control the voltage correctly. I would say try and run the same style of battery, so you don't have to go back and forth.

Dude, it's as easy as pressing two buttons. RTFM, you will find that VC on the ESC stands for Voltage Cutoff. That is LED 6. Press the INC button so one LRD glows, that's no cut-off, two LEDs 2 cell, 3 LEDs 3 cell.

Ok, I will play around with it.

Is there a certain cut off that I should shoot for? Or is it set once I put it on 2s VC?

Thanks

You can create custom cutoffs by using the Hotwire. If you don'r have a Hotwire/PC interface then you use the pre-set cutoffs programmed into the ESC, i.e., 2 LEDs = 6V, 3 LEDs = 9V.

So, if I set it to 2 LED's it will cut out at 6v? So with a 2s battery it starts at 7.4v and I will only have 1.4v of usable juice before it cuts out? Is this right, or am I missing something here?

Thanks

a charged 2s lipo is 8.4v, the 7.4v is the nominal voltage, even on you nimh batteries you shouldnt run them much lower than 5-6v if you want them to last
