Default Lipos and cold weather

I ran a G6 event yesterday in Reno, and they're huge courses, 150 gates over about a mile and a half or so each.
I ran a new 5000mah 3cell pack which lasted about 90 minutes. (good) replaced it with a 4000mah pack which only lasted about half hour or so.(not so good)
Came home last night and everything with this pack seemed normal, but I still wonder. Does extreme cold really zap a charge on these things? The temperature was probably around 25-30 degrees at the start of the day.(a snowstorm had just gone through the night before) and it seemed like the cold was really draining radio batteries. (mine included)
My batteries were in a backpack on a bench, and they were pretty cold.Do we need to keep these warm? Does it even help?

From the testing Danny did at SMC.....cold didn't really effect run time that I remember, but had big effects on voltage and IR....

Lipos sure did not like the cold though....

You should keep them warm. I don't recommend in your pocket, but a lipo sack with some hand warmers.....or, if you can still find one the Lipo warmers that were made for racing, but are not used anymore since ROAR put restrictions on battery temp.

I use hot hands to keep my packs warm when its cold outside. Ive even put them on my truck around my pack to keep my cells warm for a run.

Good idea, I'll try the hand warmer trick. I never really ran into this problem before, but I'm another wussy Californian
Guys in the really cold regions must have some experience with this.
