Default Would a 15T motor go faster then a 25T motor?

Alright. I know it;s a stupid question but would a 15T motor go faster then my 25T motor? I have stock RTR honcho scx-10 electronics(i dont have the 2.4 version) or would i have to get a new esc?

I know that's generally the case. But aren't there exceptions to the rules? For instance, wouldn't a cobalt puller 7t have both more torque and speed than my little stock axial 27t? or am I misunderstanding? Reason I ask is that I'm planning to try out a different motor myself sometimes in the near future and want to get some stuff straight. I already tried a 2s 18.5t Novak goat combo but ended up preferring the stock ae2 and 27t setup. Also with the goat i saw no noticable gain in speed. I'd like more speed for in the mud and on the trail, but also want the high resolution crawling control. Is this possible or am i gonna have to go to a 2 speed tranny.

What ESC are you currently running?

noremacyug - Yes there are exceptions to the rule, but in generally lower turns=more RPM.

The ae1 is 15t or greater.
As to noremacyug's question. Yes there are always exceptions but when a general question is asked most of the time the answer comes in an all things being equal type of scenario. Cobalt motors do have more speed and toprque than a normal motor and while I'm little more than a newb it's my understanding that that has to do with the streangth of the magnets primarily.

Also don't rule out gearing to help attain some of the characteristics you want. You can tune your truck (within limits) without swapping motors.
Ie gear up for more speed and down for more torque.

glad you mentioned that. so is it gearing up or down that makes the motor run hotter? i would assume gearing up, as that would cause more strain on the motor. but then i could see how a low gearing, causing the motor to run wide open all the time could be an issue too. so which is it......... or both?

Gearing up causes more of a load on a motor, gets hotter faster.

Gearing down generally will make it run cooler.
But you're also right. There is a possibility that if you gear too low it will get hot as well as your ringing its tits off to go anywhere.

Just got to find that happy medium

Based on what Bukwylde posted, the AE1 will support a 15T. So your current ESC is still ok to use.

Imagine a ten speed bicycle. In first you peadal your ass off go no where very easily but in tenth you struggle REALLY hard at first but go quite fast, although usually to go uphill or anything you need to down shift.
Someone on here has a very famous saying that most of us try to adhere to.
"Volt up and gear down!"

Gotta say this info took me less than a minute to find. A simple google search of "axial ae1" and it was the first link. This info is all over the place. Did this really need to be a thread?

+1.

As a parent, I stress going "above & beyond", NOT shooting for bare bones minimum.
I pay ENOUGH frikkin taxes for the bare bones minimums types. Most dress better than I and drive nicer vehicles than I.

My feeling is, "You want a government check, I have yard work/house work you can do so I/my wife don't have to do it!"
