| mineral oil
theres been a few guys that goes to local track we have to race short course, ive seen some of them putting mineral oil inside of there motors weather it's brushless or not, says it's better for them.... why idk..... what do you guys think about it? to be honest idk what to think it. |

i just never heard of them doing that before, and i wasnt getting a soild answer with them about it, so i confused about it, figured i would ask here.

I've heard of some motor builders using mineral spirits to clean the motors.....

You only want light oil in the bushings and none for a sealed bearing. If a bearing on a motor is going out it's better to replace than clean and relube. Oil inside of the motor is a bad idea especially for brushless. All the dust and crap will stick to the oil and gunk up your motor.

Yeah I don't put it in my motor but sometimes I lube up the drivetrain with it, I think it sorta prevents rust and wear, not real sure though...

yes, i kinda got the idea that the dust and stuff would stick to it, but i really didn't know, they wouldnt give a soild answer, so i figured since they seen one doing it all the other's would also, so i wanted to know forsure and see what you guy's thought about it. never thought about putting oil on my drivetrain, i alway used a small amount of grease for stuff like that, but im going to give it a try for my drivetrain next time.

Are you sure it was mineral oil and not mineral spirits??

idk, i wish they would have gave me a better responce about it. i guess they was just in a hurry and didn't really have time for it. if i get some real answer's out of it, i'll post back on here and let everybody know why.
