| Tekin FXR; Servo wire replacment
Well i'm just wondering if anyone has successfully replaced the servo wire. I popped it open and got to looking, and WOW, its going to be a huge pita to do it, and i don't even think i want to try. But i don't like the condition of the lead on it. Bare wires are showing in multiple places. If i had a desoldering equipment it wouldn't be too bad, as i could remove the top board. If i had the cash this would be the perfect reason to buy a desoldering vacuum but sadly money is tight |

Hehe, i have an idea. I think i'm going to try and solder them in upside down. So i have solder iron access. But i have to order in some 28 awg wire. I don't think i can suck enough solder out of them holes to get 26 back in it (i have a cheap 1 shot vacuum, but it won't work on trying to separate the boards. |

Give solder wick a try, I've used it for hundreds of joints and never had a problem. It works way better than a vacuum pump IMO.

What about just cutting the existing leads short and soldering on new leads from there...I dont think it would cause any issues.

So tekin is telling me that not even their most experienced tech will do it So i'm going to give it ago myself, if i mess up it'll be a $55 replacement fee (which i'd have to pay tekin anyways if i sent it in) |

I am not sure about rework stations, But I have heard from a few guys at the local RC shop (Heli Proz) that these are pretty good. I believe its called a Saike 898D |

solder wick works just fine for me. helps if you put a drop or two of flux on it first.

Hey why don't you pm Chris the Battery man on here and see what he charges. He has been reworking the fxr's lately and I know I've seen in one of his threads that he replaced the rx lead (servo wire) |
