Default Castle esc/Brushless motor ?

So I have a Honcho that runs awesome but was thinking of trying something out this weekend. I have a Sv2 esc and a 36cm 4600kv Brushless motor.
What pinion should I use and do I need to change out the spur.
Call me crazy but just want to see what it would do.
Also any mods I need to change one the esc while I have it hooked up to my laptop?

Thanks for any help

It doenst matter what pinion you use, it is going to be horrible for crawling. I tried this not to long ago in my honcho and within 15 minutes I was swapping it back to a brushed motor.

The low speed control is just horrible on a sensorless brushless motor, it was basically impossible to control at crawling speed. It was fine for just driving around but crawling is out of the question.

I would use the smallest pinion you can, that should help with the low speed control.

Thanks man.
Yeah I knew it wouldn't crawl worth a dime but just wanted to drive it around the lake in my back yard.
Oh well maybe this winter when it snows. Lol
I hate having a motor and esc laying around and I won't even try it in my Tamiya Frog. That would last 10 secs before the gears should shot. Lol

Thank you for the info.
What about a sensored motor? Any good things about them othe than the price? Lol

I just did a swap in a Wraith for my friend with the same ESC/Motor combo. We ended up using a 87/14t combo, it's pretty tight with the protective cover on it. It isn't horrible crawling if you're moving, but doing the low speed stuff is tricky.

Sensored would be better, couple that with a Mamba Max Pro and be good.

Will look into the Mamba Max Pro. See it's not that expensive.
Is there a sensored Brushless motor you would recommend?
Dont want to go to fast, but still have fun.

Thanks for the help.

If you went with like a 90t spur and a 9t pinion you might beable to somewhat slow stuff. Go with the mmp and if your wanting more speed do the 13.5 or for better 17.5 or the 21 by tekin (their brushless in suppose to be the shat right now )

Yea I believe teking just came out with a 4 pole sensored motor, that would probably make a nice crawler motor!
