Default Sidewinder problems

I have a cc sidewinder on a 3 cell lipo, a cc BEC, a hitec 7955, and a integy 55t motor. My problem is, when I plug in my battery the esc makes the little start up chime then my esc's red light starts blinking. I have steering but no throttle. I have no clue what to try to get it working and I'm bored. Its been sitting for two months or something like that, I don't want to or have the money to buy a new esc. Help!

FOOK ME! It flashes red or yellow. Damn, I was hoping it was fix able. Oh well, I guess I'll just part it out and use the electronics and other parts(minus the esc) for my scaler. Now I can up grade to tekin.

have you checked your radio? could be the throttle trim is toward reverse..

try moving it SLOWLY while listening and watching the LED's for any changes.

Say what?? Flashing red means it needs to be calibrated to your RX.

Quoted from manual....

If you are not calibrating and have no throttle input:
Flashing Red and Yellow = over temp
Flashing Green and Yellow = low voltage cut-off(battery)
Flashing Green OR Red = Speed control has not been calibrated and is not armed; or throttle sub-trim is not at 0.
Solid Green OR Red = should not happen when at neutral, indicates full throttle/reverse
Flashing Yellow = possible problem with controller (Mamba Max Pro indicates neutral and armed with C.H.E.A.T. turn off)
Solid Yellow = indicates neutral and armed (Mamba Max Pro indicates neutral and armed with C.H.E.A.T. turn on)
Flashing all colors = speed control is not receiving a valid signal from the receiver, usually indicates the receiver wire is plugged in backwards into the receiver; possible problem with controller or with throttle channel on receiver.

I flipped the aux channel switch and it turned to flashing yellow. My epa's have always been at 0 so IDK whats wrong, I wanted to upgrade anyways, plus I already have it torn appart. I might get another sidewinder or a FXR. I'm going to use the tcs edge that it was in for a MOA crawler now, is this crazy talk or me being lazy, I think I'm being lazy.

why would you flip the AUX reverse if your working with the throttle?

lets get back to the throttle problem. plug the ESC into the thr on the RX (ch2 i think) make sure the black or brown wire is toward the outside of the case of the rx. lets start there and see where it gets you.

IDK why I flipped the aux ch. I had it all wired up correct with the brown wire to the out side and it still did nothing. I'm not to worried about it, I was just really bored and then sad after it didn't work. I want to go to a tekkin FXR anyways so I'll do something with it.( can you say bonfire) BTW: thanks for all the help.

if you switch to an fxr you will still need to go through the calibration process or you will be lighting it on fire too.......just my2cents

sounds to me like you have the ESC plugged into the AUX channel. sounds like you need to make sure your connections are plugged into the correct spots on your RX, and yes. it sounds like its a simple calibration problem.

I tried all of that but it didn't work, at least with a new FXR it'll work and I'll be happy or it won't work and I can go to the hobby shop and if they can't figure it out, send it back to tekkin. It worked fine the last time I used it. Oh well, I'm going to start my scaler project now so I son't want to go with my older sidewinder. Besides, it was too big for my crawler. If you want to see what it was in go to the ax10 pic archive, it's the last post. Thanks for all the help.

That's probably part of the problem right there....
Set you EPA/Travel to 120 (or Maximum), Thr trim at 0 and 0% exponential (if you radio has it), then calibrate again.

As everybody said the flashing light you are getting is generally linked to it not being calibrated

Your problem is not fixable...

There is nothing wrong with the ESC!

Sounds like a "PICNIC" problem.....

Ummm....OTHG...did you try recalibrating the ESC yet? Did you REALLY read the material I linked?

Yes I did read it, I'm not that lazy. I don't know why it would not calibrate if it worked fine after sitting for four months, being used and then not work after sitting for another two or three months. The only thing I adjusted on my tx was the steering trim, model #, and lessen the steering throw a little so the tires didn't rub, other than that the radio settings are factory stock.

Follow the procedure in the sidewinder manual for recalibrating the radio...

It's possible a throttle trim was bumped just a bit, that would make the ESC not see "0" when powered up, thus not arming. It may also need the throttle deadband opend a bit.

I'm willing to bet when you resolve it, you will have a, "Ah ha!" moment.
