| Does the HPI SF-5 Really Have 314oz?
I was looking at the HPI SF-5 servo on tower and it says it has 314oz of torque at six volts. Is this correct? If so you can have the torque of a 5955tg for $45. Im already running a TG servo, but for $45 thats a still great deal.

It's sort of a typo on the specs if you're looking at towers website. The servo is listed as 8.9kg/cm in terms of torque. It's listed this way as well on HPI's site too. http://www.hpiracing.com/products/en/80594/ The issue is Tower only converted kg to ounces (which is ~314oz) They did not do the second conversion of cm to inches. Which if you do the math this servo only has about 123 oz of torque/in. HPI has always maintained that their current electronics package is OEM from Futaba. They even indicate on their website that you must use them for service on these items. Given that, If I were a betting man, I would say the SF-5 is just a rebadged Futaba S3305 servo. Specs are identical. Hope this helps. -Mike |

Ok so I am digging up an old thread, but its not to talk about the HPI SF-5... but to ask how the math it done to figure out torque in oz./in. when its given in kg-cm? Like what mann0mann ^ was saying in the post above? Cause I am looking at some off brand servos that range in torque from 10.5kg-cm to 31kg-cm... it would just be nice to be able to have an idea for compairing name brand/ price/ torque in oz. etc... Thanks for the help! |

No problem, I like the 1st one, covers a lot of engineering/RC type conversions. |
